As someone not really into what actors do in the west does, or just actors in general...
I'm surprised people give too much of a damn about what their opinions about anything are, they're actors to begin with
That doesn't really make their opinions about anything serious or relevant
nevermind that actors never had a good reputation to begin with, or even matter in the grand scheme of things.
The fact that people care so much about the opinions of one man who as far as the rest of the world is concerned, just acts is shocking
I previously laughed at the Nazis in Hellsing. Since then, I've learned to take all public opinions seriously (now Nazis and adjacent have more influence than their head count here). They are a serious topic, not to be laughed off.

It isn't too much of a stretch to say that by giving him an audience, bombs can fall on other places in the world. Thankfully, no one of consequence has been listening to Mel for years. I fear that as he gets more work again, that may not be so. Already far too much antisemitism and misogyny in culture, giving it a louder voice isn't going to help.

Nazis existed, probably still do, talking about them doesn't make the history go away, if anything it's good that people show that they're there, easier to detect signs

I really do think that you're overestimating the influence of a has-bin already cancelled star who may be getting grounds now?? but he's old he doesn't really have much of anything to go about other than his old movies,
I don't think that the youth or even adults would still give a damn about what he says, you should be more worried about idiots like the Paul Brothers over this old guy a lot of people outside the old generation probably have never even heard of,
the view of a lot of people regarding stars isn't as big as you think it is,

in asian countries for example being a famous star is seen as nice but you're also seen as wasting your life, a lot of people would think that if you don't do it right and rely on your 5 mins of fame you'll never get anywhere so you can still see famous people having degrees here.

Majority couldn't care less about Mel Gibson, whatever minor audience he still has doesn't probably even use twitter or doesn't look at what he says.
edit: let me make this easier to understand, a "hollywood actor" has even less influence to the world than what you westerners think lol, especially an old one

is it worth reading?
I find this story worth reading.

The manga covers most of what is in the novels ... mostly. But the light novel will have a little more background ... You know, a picture is worth a 1000 words. Depends on the artist for the manga

Most times, when I can't get near my computer (being away for several days) reading the LN's to some of the mangas I read/translate give me some comfort.

Well, I think you under estimate how much influence individuals can have. Doesn't matter if the person is "just hollywood." Lots of wealthy people love fame, and being fame adjacent. It is surprisingly cheap to bribe a senator for example, like $10k cheap. I'm sure if Kid Rock or Ted Nugent said something into the previous guy's ears, he'd be quite willing to go along with a lot. People like Alex Jones have gotten people killed from "just talking." May be not world wide, but that is possible.

Mel Gibson is below Andrew Tate in toxic influence, and Tate is more international. Hopefully he pays dearly for his behavior, but it will not erase the influence he has had on culture everywhere.

Things don't matter or as is commonly used, "just politics," until it effects them personally. Hopefully, nothing bad comes out of it, like people thinking wife beating is acceptable, because they know a guy, like Gibson, that relatively gets away with it. I just don't want the effect of ideas written off, out of hand. It may be a single point, but get enough of them together, and there are serious problems.

Well, at least it WAS worth reading, until
his sisters, two abusive bastards he can do nothing about and no one else gives a fuck about, were introduced in the latest translated volume.
Manga has some ground to cover before it reaches that point, perhaps around chapter 50 or something?

again you're overestimating the influence of some people
this influence you speak of more than likely only affects a REALLY small portion of the world.
you really think people have the time let alone care to listen to what an actor says? actors already have a bad rep for being actors and being involved in scandals and people world wide have accepted that fact.
no one's gonna go out there and think someone like Mel Gibson is gonna give you some big brain takes on politics or whatnot, they're rich that's it

you're over blowing what you think their effect is on the world
take it from someone who doesn't live in the west,
we really don't give a damn about what some actors there do, stop thinking of them as some sort of avatar of anything just because they're rich and famous, the world doesn't revolve around the US specifically.

this influence you have on culture "everywhere"
is limited to a small target group as of now
please go and actually ask around and look at things from the eyes of people outside your country and nation,
you're forgetting a lot of factors that make people listen to people
for one they're supposed to be on a platform where people actually care to read about their words, WHICH IS NOT THE CASE most of the time, 2nd is their voices have to actually matter for majority of the population and that doesn't seem to be present here, heck
the author of this particular manga has not quoted anything he said that anyone can even infer as problematic,
3rd, people actually need to care enough to follow you or actually need to agree on your world view.
now unless you think majority of the international community is just stupid and would follow Mel Gibson's shit takes because he has money, money he probably wouldn't even give to the international community to actually do bad things anyway, then you're really overacting from seeing him even mentioned

what year do you live in? its 2023, anyone who beats their wife in this day and age is frowned upon no matter who you talk to, majority of the populous isn't stupid,
please keep the stupidity there, actually hold up, IT REALLY IS INSULTING THAT YOU WOULD THINK that people see domestic violence and say "oh you can get away with it as long as you have money" yes the legal system there is pay to win but no one's looking at domestic violence and saying it's right

Grandma is pretty and not a loli. And probably fun. She seems a bit impulsive though. I wonder how wacky his life will end up. She might egg on him to marry someone already like most family members do. And the candidates will be the mayor and Anna's mom.

That's an interesting conversation you're having there. Allow me to flip in my two cents.

Any single person of any nationality, age, or demographic that allows himself to be morally influenced by, of all things, friggin celebrities, has problems much bigger than being offended about some celebrity who did an offensive rant years ago.
