the king denied the existence of the fated maiden because he's waiting to see if Bertia is truly enough to keep Cecil's reins, in general the king tells his son the thing about the superior capabilities of certain members of the royal family until they marry because they know the special children can change according to circumstances so the children could feing being in love.
Besides the soon to be king has to know that their son might be a little bit too capable.
Also the king is happy not because Cecil is feeling incapable but because he knos how to open himself to others now and is not self reliant
And about the downfall shoule i spoil it now that we are so close? I think not but can answe if anyone's interested

It's basically a shit show for Heronia she denounces Bertia and her family for conspiracy and high treason for the things that Duke Evil is supposed to do and brings documents to prove that from her dress that has no pockets (lol) gets trahs talked to oblivion and then attacks Cecil who gets hit hith all the spirit's power and dreams of the ge ending as intended while becoming a husk of what he's right now but because Bertia's spirit and his own powers help him he uses a no u move and tells the light spirit to stop so he doesn't really die and comes out to stop Bertia from cutting her hair and becoming a Buddhist monk (¿?) Then Bertia tells him of the various ends of the game, filled woth death and wars and then they marry and the king tells him about the fated maiden, soon comes the new heir and he too is too accomplished like Cecil and then they fight over Bertia until the child becomes a siscon and they lived happily ever after

Heronia is sent to a hellish convent of her own free will after learning that she fked up to try and heal her spirit that will take about 50 ish years because that place has a strong connection to light power so it will help the spirit

At the end the ending is good enough to make anyone cry

@Eldwin Cecil didn't use to be too interested in anything, so I suppose the king expected him to be utterly nonchalant about any arranged marriage as well. However, Cecil actually appeared in front of him to ask about such things, so the king should be pleased. Like the king said himself, when the son is a genius, it can be difficult for the father to try to help him. It's hard to say if the king actually heard about Bertia being strange and chose her precisely because of that, expecting a miracle.
