Why people hate Kazuya? he is a normal boy, one of the most "normal" MC that i have seen in romance manga, he doesn't need to be the badass MC or the naive harem MC... he is just normal and that's good

In this chapter he showed how thoughtful he can be, and if he ends up dating Chizuru for real it will be awesome because trough all the series he has showed how much he likes her and how far he can go for her to make her happy.

Yes, he can be a bit of a pervert, a bit of a coward or an indecisive guy... but what normal man is not?

I think they will go with the Chizuru revealing to her Grandma she's not dating Kazuya... and then Grandma will say something like "But you like him, don't you?" making her realize she does like Kazuya

@zerogrv if you think it's normal to rent a girlfriend and spend thousands of dollars ina totally one-sided relationship....you need to rethink your life decisions

The girl just lost the last person most important in her life, and just lost HER ENTIRE FAMILY.

She is alone as she can be.

So if you're cringy at this... You probably haven't been there.

@zerogrv

I agree he’s a more down to earth representation of what a man who went through a heavy break-up (or at least he took it badly, mami’s just mami) could be. That being said it isn’t “normal” to pay someone more than $500 to date you more than once. Sure you could be addicted to porn or hentai and its respective memorabilia but you can “get into” porn for free. If you think about it (Kazuya did too), he was basically hiring a prostitute over and over again which became some sort of dependency, overall an addiction.

It’s common side-effect from going through some “heavy” love troubles but Kazuya’s version of it isn’t normal at all.

With all that, I still agree to you that he’s a bit more normal compared to other chad MCs and a whole lot more incel-y (he left a bad review just because a rented gf treated her the same way as others). Maybe others hate seeing themselves do the same things or maybe just hate realistic characters in general (realistic in a sense that people like that do exist and in bulk too). Hopefully that doesn’t come in the of realizing Kazuya’s character development be it how slow it is coupled with his self-image and self-worth concerns.

@Excalibur-23 No need for the insult, i'm happy with my life decisions, i have a beautiful wife, a well paid job and a great home, not that im bragging

And the rent-a-girlfriend plot is just the beginning and point of start for them, is the whole premise of the manga but from some time ago that has lost all importance, if the rent-a-girl was still the main plot we would have seen at least 3 o 4 more girls in the rental business, and yet we only know Ruka (who was paid-dating another guy when she meet Kazuya and quickly give up the job) and Sumi (who was only rented because Chizuru asked for it and only have a friendship relationship with Kazuya)

I'm not talking about how he is basically buying a girl, i'm talking about the boy-meets-girl and they fall in love

And i mean... spending thousand of dollars in a one sided relationship for a girl is basically the most normal thing in the world, and look at the manga... looks like it wasn't so one sided like you said if she has feeling for him.

I think Chizuru needs to decide whether or not she likes Kazuya and wants him in her life, but first of all she needs to clean the situation up by NOT TAKING HIS MONEY. Until then, it's all as phony as the dates they had in the first place. They're walking around on a rotten net of lies in the form of prostitution transaction.

I'm curious to see whether the death of Chizuru's grandmother marks the death of her relationship with Kazuya.

This series is actually pretty dark.
