I’ve asked for a way to help users with low speed data before, but seems like you guys promised that then forgot so I’ll repeat it here: Please somehow help us recognizing big chapters/resolution. Since the site doesn’t downscale files or have a Quality setting, it is rough for people like me who don’t have a good data plan for reading on the go.

A past suggestion I had was to display chapter size in kilo/megabytes, or to display average size of a page (chapter size divided by page amount). That way at least we have an idea of what chapters are readable with a low connection. At this point, anything to help users like myself in this regard are good.

@AbyssalMonkey okay, I can definitely see there being too many edge cases now that you bring that up. I do agree having the option to display more is probably better overall. It might be nice to have an icon that shows publication status as complete, hiatus or ongoing maybe. Might be a nice qol change for quick glances.

@Teasday even though it’s slower, it’s the same argument I have for downloading a show vs streaming it. The current reader only loads up to the next 20 pages in, so if your network has a hiccup or slows down, you might have less pleasant time.

The setup wizard sounds great, unless it’s automatic. If it opens everytime someones not logged in, then I see a ton of angry support messages in the future on how they’re annoyed at this otherwise really cool feature. The amount of people who don’t know mangadex is modular is amazing! But run some betas on some suggested designs so that the best implementation of this is added.

- Frequency of release in Country of origin;
- Date when I completed read a work. This is to know when a new chapter (special chapters) appears after a work is concluded. Right now, if I mark a work as completed and then a new chapter appears, it is marked as read and I'll not know that I didn't read it. It would be good if the new chapter showed on Reading tab.

Would be nice if chapter updates are filter through language preferences, especially in the mdlist sort by last update. As it's false hope if a manga jumps in positions but there's no eng update currently.

I think that if dropped mangas didn't appear on the manga lists (front page, last updates, search, etc...) or giving the ability to create and manage an ignore list would really help to declutter and personalize the front page and long manga lists for each users.

@AbyssalMonkey : too bad for the search based on scanlation completion, it was a really usefull feature for binge reading sessions on batoto, as original work publication status are not really helpfull if there is missing chapters or the translation has been dropped since forever and will never be completed...
Can't it be based on series with the "completed" blue tag that is shown in last chapters and with no missing chapters? I don't remember how they did it on batoto but it was working well.

All other sites that have had a "scanlation status" thing have only applied it to a single language, usually obviously English. We won't implement features that only apply to one arbitrary language.

Like I said, it would be a first-time setup kinda thing, whether it's for logged in users or guests. Of course if you wipe all the local data then that would also wipe the flag that gets set after the setup. I'll just add a Skip button for those poor souls that keep doing that.

I have a suggestion.
The ability to switch one chapter across languages, while in the reader and while respecting user's chapter language setting. So, one do not have to go back to the manga page to read the chapter in the other language.

Let me elaborate on it.
Currently, while in the reader, you're only able to switch within one language. That is, from Group A (English) to Group B (English), for example.

What I meant by to switch across languages is,
For example, if I have English, German & Chinese (S) in my chapter language setting, while in the reader, I would like to be able to switch between Group A (English), Group B (English), Group C (German) and Group D (Chinese (S)).

I don't know how many the multilingual demographic are on MD. Just thought it would be a nice QoL change for the multilinguals.

Additional and customizable lists are pretty much all I could ask for.

I'd be interested, however, in a slightly more accurate search system when it comes to authors and artists. The system you have set up when you generically search for an author works just fine, but when you're in a manga's page and type in an author's name, you often get more than one author, as those other others have, in their name, the name of the original author you clicked on. So making it more restrictive would be interesting. If I remember correctly (I may be wrong; I haven't visited it a while), nhentai has exactly what I'm asking for, so you can try it out if my explaination seems unclear.

This is just me really nitpicking though. The site's already great.

I would want a screen similar to the "Follows" screen, but it would only show unread chapters. Once I marked it as read (either by opening it or by marking it as read), it wouldn't show up on this screen.

Just to be perfectly clear, I would still want the current "Follows" screen to exist. I would use both screens: The "Follows" one and the "To read" one.
