Aren't intact and unscathed synonyms?
Intact would be making it out alive, even with sustained damage. Unscathed would be making it out without any damage taken.
Edit: The Unicorn Man beat me to it by a few seconds lol.
@sterven
however when action is taken not because of a violation of the written rules but one's own interpretation of the rules is when I have an issue.
I agree with this too of course. If someone in power is able to rewrite/reinterpret rules as they see fit, it's a bad time to say the least. Can you link to any instances where that's the case?

To emphasize that most people of a certain ideology barely survived ('intact'), while this Mongol Conqueror emerged unscathed.

Man, English is so weird.
"Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" is a real, grammatically correct yet syntactically ambiguous sentence.

Also, a grammatically correct sentence with eleven instances of 'had' in a row.
James, while John had had "had", had had "had had"; "had had" had had a better effect on the teacher.

Stating that you find the death and suffering of others to be entertaining and that you hope it continues is a blatant violation of Be Civil. If I take pleasure in anything, it's showing rule breakers in this particular thread that no, you really don't get to have a callous disregard for life and MD's rules and not get called out for it.

My dumbass. Guess I shouldn't have used the word entertaining huh but in my defence I didnt even see his post till after my ban.

The rules in question as they are written.
Disagreements can and will happen. However, we ask all users avoid the following:
Racism: With the exception of a serious historical discussion, there is never a context in which racist language is acceptable on MangaDex. This extends to profile biographies, user names, group banners, and user avatars.
Sexism: One gender is not inherently superior to another. Harassing someone solely on the basis of gender is not acceptable on MangaDex. This extends to profile biographies, user names, group banners, and user avatars.
Religious Discrimination: All members of all religions are equally deserving of respect. Insulting someone solely on the basis of their religion or slandering a specific religion is not acceptable on MangaDex. This extends to profile biographies, usernames, group banners, and user avatars.
Other Terminology: This category includes everything else that does not neatly fit under the above categories. It includes, but is not limited to, rape jokes, homophobia, transphobia, and direct personal attacks.
Direct Personal Attacks: We encourage intelligent, thoughtful discussion on MangaDex. We encourage users to criticize the content of a post and not the poster themselves. This particular violation will be taken on a case by case basis since context and severity of the violation is important when a mod is considering taking action. For example, calling someone an idiot and offering evidence why they're an idiot will most likely not result in moderator action. Calling someone an idiot and doing nothing else will result in moderator action, not because you called someone an idiot, but because it was the sole content of your post. Note that especially egregious foul language may or may not result in moderator action.
If you must disagree with someone, we prefer that you take your arguments into a private conversation so as not to derail a thread. If you cannot argue amicably, consider using the Block function, which can be found on every user's profile page. Blocking someone prevents you from seeing all of their messages on MangaDex.
Don't Be Disruptive
Keep your posts on topic.
Do not post spoilers outside of designated forums.
Avoid cluttering up discussions with memes or image responses to posts.
No trolling. Controversial opinions and topics are welcome when accompanied by a point of view aimed at generating genuine discussion.

I fail to see the violation if you can by all means point it out to me.

Alright, looking over the rules (even though I've read them before), I honestly don't think that your post should have resulted in a ban. Not like it matters now though, I guess. Reading the rules also made me realize how there seem to be quite a few subjective statements included in them. It's not like I have any credibility or weight to my opinions on how to make rules, but I think that removing subjective statements in the rules would be beneficial, as rules are ideally meant to be objectively enforced on a website such as this one. Subjectivity can come into play in situations of more magnitude, such as court cases.

And another thing. I'm not trying to be disrespectful obviously, but I don't find the manner in which ban messages are written to be helpful or productive. The level of personal dialogue used in them is entirely unnecessary and only increases vexation for banned users. Explaining to banned users why they were banned, without talking down to them, and possibly encouraging them to post again (abiding by the rules of course) after their bans, would certainly lessen any irritability they may feel. People who write messages concerning ban reasons should preferably attempt to write said messages objectively, just as the rules should preferably be written objectively.

As a disclaimer, I do not wish to command anybody to do his/her job differently. I merely wish to openly offer suggestions in hope that others may, in turn, openly consider them.

What even is this thread at this point...

@Mr_Detective
Was this not what we agreed on, @pandascepter @Afiaki @MawMaw or was there some sort of misunderstanding?
If I were to make the final call, all of those entries wouldn't be allowed. But let's hear what you guys think first.
Is there something you find wrong with my selection? Disregard.

I did think that "battle themes" would have naturally included non-violent battles, but the theme you've got here is basically "Violent/Physical Fighting Music" and I'm onboard with that. Most of the submissions including mine match up with that so disqualifying just a few outliers I don't see any problem with.
I'd support your decision if you did so.

Anyway, more importantly:
Before you start the new thread can we collect some theme suggestions for the next tournament and you can put those suggestions in a poll for the contest thread? Then the next theme can be voted on.

Otherwise we'd have to do a text post survey again, which has limited contributors compared to poll boxes.
Of course, that's only if you still want to continue after this.

Thanks.
