I would classify him as a kuudere since he's basically an ice cube.

There's a character type for him, and it's the energy saver (though I'm not sure what it's exactly called and I don't have the strength to find out). "Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge" built a whole series around it. Elsewhere, even in some big titles like "Hyouka", it's the defining characteristic of one of the main characters, though not the theme of the whole story. So, though I won't blame you for interpreting it so, the MC is not extra cold like an ice cube. He just doesn't want to bother with it, feeling like it's too much. In other words, he doesn't have enough energy (motivation) to get involved more than this. In RL some people become like that due to an illness. They can turn even a bit hostile if one tries to push them too much to get involved, as it can be painful for them, physically or mentally.

You know, while the guy is kind of based I do feel bad for Noa being so open to him and he just shoots down her excitement so bluntly. Come on man, at least just nod and go "Hmm hmm" to some of those.

You say that until you're in the same exact position as him, mind you these 2 are grown adults and she's acting like a highschool girl with abandonment issues, she 100% made some people in that restaurant uncomfortable with all of her yelling and getting defensive about being looked at as a pervert, when that wasn't even the case with MC

I don't understand women in this sense. One side says nice guys never win, the other says that's just incel talk. Yet when I read some women focused works..... I know fantasy doesn't always correlate with reality but god damn. I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle... the question is where.

"Nice" means a lot of things. The "nice guys" that finish last are the guys who are passive pushovers, who go for the path of least resistance and try not to rock the boat socially. The nice guys that women talk about falling for are the guys who are aggressive and assertive but still kind in how they treat others
