This never ever was a thing. It's never the highest quality team that keep translating... Seriously, there are dozen of group that hoard hundread of popular manga and never translate them...
Or do you say that this shitty "no snipe" thing is actualy good because it lead to shitty team like LHscan and galaxy degen to exist and hoard an insane amount of popular manga with barely any update?

Neither of these are good outcomes. The "No sniping" system means that more manga gets translated at a higher quality because there's less wasted effort between groups.

You mean... exactly as it is now? but with the exeption that when a team remove their translation there is nothing left because there was a single team translating a manga? Leading to people having to navigate shitty agregator to find the missing chapter...

But the idea of sniping still needs to exist AND people should be viewed poorly if they snipe, because otherwise translation as a whole will suffer.

No... People only translate what they realy like, when they do it for pleasure and not money. If someone cant trad what he like because of this stupid rule he will NOT go and translate a random unknow manga, he will simply not translate anything at all.
If what you say was something then all the small and good manga would have regular update, but it's not the case.

If you get rid of it like you're suggesting, you'll briefly see a handful of low-quality TLs improve slightly before the entire fan translation scene gets drowned out by duwang-level machine translations that did it fastest.

The biggest joke is that this system is actualy the only thing that prevent the shittiest trad team from disapearing. Because if someone try to TL a manga who is taken by a big team, that only update their manga once every 3 month, they will see their chapter taken dawn after being flamed by 2iq shill.
