He's the main character... This was his story, foremost. How can he be pointless?
I was referring to Shusuke.
Running away from their troubles is exceedingly often the first thing people try.
Sure, but why spend the time showing how people are reacting to him? There wasn't enough pages for this chapter.
You can't just say it was unnecessary and could have been handled another way, but then not suggest a better way.
A suicide note. Or not even said out loud, and everyone else needs to speculate. The audio recording being as graphic as it is is bad enough, but it was also used to show the rape which was unnecessary.

If you’re a masochist and author, there is nothing sexier than being told by higher ups:
“this isn’t selling well, wrap it up”

And so it's over. Was it a great manga? Eh probably not. But I enjoyed it and it didn't overstay it's welcome by dragging the drama out to 78 Chapters and gave us a nice happy end. Frankly Endings are "hard" and SO many damn manga miss the landing by a mile so I gladly take this.

I agree on that. My bad for misunderstanding which character you meant.

Sure, but why spend the time showing how people are reacting to him? There wasn't enough pages for this chapter.

I found the scenes useful in the sense that they showed how he did absolutely nothing to defend himself, even when people threw the worst kind of insults at him, basically calling him what the scumbag he killed was. He judged them justified. That's how little he values himself. I found it annoying how he considers himself a worthless murderer; he was justified and did nothing morally wrong, but he is what he is. For this series to wade so deep in depression, he had to be like that and there had to be enough different kinds of scenes to make it clear.

Anyway, like someone else said, this wasn't a good ending, nor was it a bad one. It was just an ending.

A suicide note. Or not even said out loud, and everyone else needs to speculate. The audio recording being as graphic as it is is bad enough, but it was also used to show the rape which was unnecessary.

As I mentioned before elsewhere, obviously Yuri shouldn't have tried to personally confront a criminal, but otherwise recording the confrontation was the most logical thing she could have done. Kids these days are born with a smartphone in their hands, so it makes sense she recorded it. You need evidence of everything. Even social media these days teaches that to people. I reckon she imagined she was going to have a discussion with the scumbag teacher and make him promise not to hit Shiina anymore. She would keep the recording as a proof of his promise. Such naive thoughts from a child of a warm, safe family.

But sure, the visual depiction of the rape scene wasn't really needed. Everybody knows it happened without the scene and everybody already knew Shiina was traumatised by it.

Ok so my girl sumire gets absolutely shafted, doesnt even get to hang with the mom anymore and gets a "My condolences" dm from what seems to be her father???
Then the brothers mom randomly decides to be a parent, and thats it?
The brother spend his youth selling his ass because his deadbeat mom couldnt care less if he died.
And I guess sumire didnt get raped enough for her pain to matter?

We got 10 endless circular chapters of "I want to be family" "We cant be family" "Ok we can be family" and then its just done instantly? The only thing required was the rape.mp3?

Edit:- Now that I am over the ending, lemme write a proper review (the ending pissed me off)
Btw rating is 7 after I re-read everything

Things I liked:-
  1. Opening - Imagine getting an opening where the first panel is murder and the fifth panel is suicidal tendency, that's attractive (as a reader, not irl)
  2. Art - It was… pleasant, like seeing cute characters in the gloomy setting is refreshing
  3. Survivor's Guilt - (Search Google for definition) writer nailed this part, seeing MC questioning his right to live, as his sister is dead is realistic (also he blamed himself for her death as he wasn't there to pick her up)
  4. Plot twists - The best thing (at least at the beginning and the middle), Shiika's planned encounter, bullying, fembro's introduction (forgot his name), shiika's involvement though it fails to properly execute in later halves (felt rushed)
Btw this manga reminded me of tensegrity structure, every string in high tension, but others holding each other in stability

Things I didn't like:-
  1. Trauma cycle - Though the ending broke the cycle
    JNldTFm.png
  2. False hype - It really pisses me off when stuff like this happens, one example will be bro and sis running away, big deal right? They come back next chapter, another will be Shiika's involvement to the main case, like I suppose the 2nd half was fully based on it, then they said, "I was abused, and I was forced to not say anything." Like yeah, that's was predictable, but it was way too much stretched.
  3. Sumire's character - WHO IS SHE? HOW DOES SHE KNOW SO MANY THINGS?
  4. Plot device - Fembro was a plot device… why was he there, just to pass on the mobile? Like I actually expected many things from him.
  5. Rushed execution - As I told above, it suffers from long-term execution
  6. Plot hole - Sumire told us that Shiika was there, based on the voice rec, so she was involved and hence bad… Wasn't the same voice rec had these lines by Yuri "Don't worry, I will protect you, I won't tell anyone because Shiika is my little sister." She didn't hear this, cause this changes the fact that she was 'involved' (Why will Yuri show sympathy to her if she was involved?"
One thing that is bugging me, is the extremities of the society. I found this:-
ZuMEhth.png

Here it's clearly written that the murder motive was "r word of his sister"
Then why is the society like "yeah a filthy murderer" instead of "justice system failed us, at least this guy took the justice for her sister", like, I either don't know jap society, or this is BS

Umm… took me some time to write this, this review may be biased, because of the character troupes (personal reason) sorry for that. But yeah, thanks for reading ig, here is a gift "She doesn't know why she lives." amazing manga, with the same feel as this one, though a lot lighter.
Also correct me if I am wrong anywhere, bye.

Oh btw… I decided to search mangaka's name in nhentai (due to those panels) and found out some schoolgirl stuff (do whatever with that knowledge)

(This was the msg before edit:-
Guys, a reminder, trauma dumping is not good writing, I was getting annoyed at the end of how many times they were just repeating the same thing. And the femboy brother was just a plot device bru.
6.5/10)
Do you people not go outside? Do you not understand how rumors and people work?
Even if anybody gave a shit that the victim was a rapist the only thing being passed around will be "hes a murderer" in seconds. You think anybody remembers shit 7 years later?

I'm not sad, rather I can very well feel every cell in body about to explode with rage whenever I see her father on the pages... I feel too overwhelmed by anger to take the ending in, but the fact that I feel so much anger just means the writing got to me which shows it's good, I just don't know if that's what the story tried to convey but I'll still praise it in that aspect... Peace 🙏

Sumire ending

She bullied Shiika because she stolen her opportunity to have Ms. Waku be her mother, she believed her care for her was real love, but she only was a part of her work and Ms. Waku failed to realise it till the end.
Sumire then deliberately made Shiika a culprit in Yuri rape and suicide, reason why Ms. Waku didn't want her.
But she understood her actions and is left in orphanage, maybe she won't make a mistake like that in the future.

Shusuke ending

He saw his mother being shunned by society, he brought the abuse from school to the home.
She blamed him for that and he tried to earn money for them to move by most dumbest way possible, resulting him being raped and sell his body in disgust.
Shusuke didn't tell about rape and his "work" to his mother, but now she probably knows all the story and will try help him because they're family after all.

Shiika, Kazuma and Ms. Waku ending

Ms. Waku adopted Shiika obviously, she had twisted sense of family through her abusive pedophile father, that was punishing her for "killing his wife" (What The Fuck).
Now that Ms. Waku knows what Yuri did for Shiika and Shiika final belief of her being together will try her best to substitute for Yuri the best she can, it's her duty for not being able to stop what Yuri got through.

Overall it's a story how one perverted monster could ruin many people lives:
1. Innocent child being abused for death at birth.
2. Happy-go-lucky girl being raped and committing suicide.
3. Parent loosing a daughter that was raped and committed suicide with son becoming a murderer and ostracized by society forever.
4. Caring brother taking rightfully vengeance and being shunned by society as cold murder.
5. Good, cheerful, bit spoiled kid that yearned for a sibling being blamed for having a rapist father put through rape and prostitution.
6. Orphaned girl seeing how unreasonably "evil" person can be loved, pushing her to be jealous and vile.

The story could be longer in details, but there's nothing more to drag further really, everything is clear.

10/10
Won't read again, too much traumatising, but glad I read it till the end.

Thanks for scanlation!

The MC was entirely justified in killing the rapist but it's not hard to believe he'd be depressed after the event given the fact that
A) His sister was still dead
B) Social stigma his mother faced
C) Most people aren't sociopaths that can just kill a person and not feel anything from it, no matter how justified it might be.

I understand the literal events of the story, but ALOT of exploration for both characters was left on the table. Frankly they seemed to exist only to further the story, when they could have carried entire volumes.

Just one of the things I found wanting in this manga.
