The ending was....just an ending. There's nothing I can say about it. There's this strange discrepancy I feel between this chapter and the previous one. It just feel that they've moved on very quickly. No, I'm not saying that they shouldn't move on, but it just feels like the moment they found out about Shiika's words, they decided to push their guilt aside and decided to forgive themselves, which is exactly what the previous chapter was against. It just feels extremely odd and out of place for some reason.

What was the point of running away? Feels like a waste of the little pages left, which could have been spent on healing.

It was a theme of this series that all of the characters had psychological problems and none of them were too good at dealing with them. Running away from their troubles is exceedingly often the first thing people try.

The brother seems pointless,

He's the main character... This was his story, foremost. How can he be pointless?

I don't think the voice recording was necessary and could have been done another way that wasn't so crass, and the last chapter could've used more pages.

How? You can't just say it was unnecessary and could have been handled another way, but then not suggest a better way. That's what is called pointless, to borrow your own word. Yuri was far too happy-go-lucky, a real product of a protective, warm family, to believe she could just enter the house of a child abuser and talk him out of his criminal ways. Especially after she was told by the man that she, who is still a child, reminds the man of his late wife. Setting her phone to record everything was the only smart thing she did.

Had a through reread. I do love how Shiika and Kazuma is written as an unreliable narrator, Kazuma being addled with guilt, and Shiika being too young to understand. The part I love most the innate fear in both of them to figure out the truth, and how overcoming the fear liberates them from their own shackles. It might be my own bias as a person but I think anyone who have gone through suicide ideation in their life can feel a profound connection with this manga, I sure did, at the very least. And the artstyle truly carries this series, it feels like hand-drawn scribbles and doodles one would make while trying to figure themself out. Not trying to "wow" the readers, but it felt like as if the author is drawing and writing for themself. Exactly the type of manga I prefer.

I feel there's something lost in translation in regard to the Nishimis, but that's for until someone else step up to do a better translation.
There is a tendency in japanese pop lit where the protagonist runs away from their home and then comes back once they have something, and it might have affected this manga too.

All in all, this series is a 10/10 for me. Not an easy recommend, but I enjoyed each chapter thoroughly.

Ehh...?!

That ending and the build up to the ending was very short.
I am happy though that they are happy but the build up to this was just not there.

The brother in question (Shusuke-kun) and the MC (Kazuma-kun) are entirely separate characters. The fact that you couldn't even remember him apparently, just goes to show how pointless indeed he was.

The ending was fine but doesn't forgive all the forced drama in the middle. In the end, it didn't matter about the people who were alive, it only focused on the dearly departed. We never got to.see anyone truly move forward.

You aren't the person I was replying to, so who knows which brother the original quote was referring to. But if your guess is correct, then it's indeed true. The main brother in the series, though, is the MC.

uhh i think i should re-read this cause i have no idea whats happening
I don't blame you, it was a really rushed last volume. I don't think they had much story for 100 chapter, but wrapping things up in 5 chapters, specially considering the pacing in the first 10 really makes things confusing.

I like this ending. Not everything has to be overly complicated. For me it tells me how nothing is certain and how some circumstances are unfair so everyone can just make the best out of it.

This had so much potential but it went bad so fast.. I'm actually disappointed.

Meh, at least the art was great.

Well. That was something. I’ll leave the quality critiques for people smarter than me and just say that it did indeed feel rushed at the end, but it was fun while it lasted. Hope there wasn’t too much meddling, but if it’s the reason we avoided the usagi drop ending i’m ok with it.
