My song of the day today features my favorite composer (and writer and artist) of all time: Anonymus! Active for centuries, no, millennia, they have left behind countless works in the musical, literary, and fine arts, some of which are on par with the most famous composers (writers, artists, you name it...) of the respective era. Well, joke aside, anonymous composers have left many good pieces of music for us to listen to, among them my choice of the day: "Que de riza morremo" performed by the Ancient Consort Singers and the Ancient Instrumental Ensemble. This Spanish Renaissance song further is a prime example for how intercultural influences of musical exchange did already exist before the emergence of the popular music styles in the 20th century. It is a "Negro à 8", a "black song" for eight voices and a prime example how musical influences of Africans brought to the New World were absorbed by the Colonial music and ultimately brought back to Spain. It is an early example of musical cultural appropriation, so to say, but that doesn't make it any less pleasant to listen to.

Classical music ahead!

Some catchy synthwave today... Was hard to choose one song from Caspro's Memory Drive album, but that's the rule so here it is:

Today I have chosen traditional Andean music. This song called a "Kantu" is performed by Ichumanta.

My choice of the day is Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Op. 64, the "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, in E minor" particularly the first part "Allegro molto appassionato".

Today I have chosen "Tant ai amé c' or me convient haïr", a courtly love song composed by Conon de Béthune and performed by Sequentia. This is one example of the music of the trouvères, i.e. the troubadours of Northern France who sung in Old French.

My song of the day is a traditional Chinese folk song: "Love Song of Kang Ding". Since my favorite version was not avaliable on YouTube I have chosen the one sounding the most similar to it.

Today I have chosen "Portsmouth", an English country dance from the 11th edition of "Playford's Dancing Master" from 1701. The music is performed by The Broadside Band.
