basically yeah, that she isn't the perfect model student that everyone thinks she is.

You have no idea how bad and "wishy-washy" the LNs get :^). I'm not sure how far the JPLN is translated since I only read it in Japanese, but it is an extremely disappointing story based on the 7 LN I've read. A lot of "forced" and in my opinion, pointless, moments are coming.

just read up to the most current translated novel chapter and it is relatively chill but every new character is a bit frustrating. I feel bad for Hayato he just is teased non-stop and no one cares. Every interaction is intentionally vague and possibly intentionally awkward. Did anyone who read the novel tell me what was up with the interaction between Haruki and his dad. Was is something we should have understood or part of the "mystery" behind her.

With Hayato, yeah, kinda feel for him, but he's shown himself capable of giving as much as getting. And he's still settling in; it hasn't even been a full month in-story since the transfer.

About their dad, it sure seems as if we're supposed to understand he understands her situation fully but ultimately decides looking after her is the proper response. (I think we've been given enough information to guess that her mom had her young, left her with grandmama while she got her act together, started having a little bit of success, came and took her back to the city, then panicked once she realized she'd become scandal fodder if the story ever came out, so she left her daughter to look after herself. Probably hadn't even seen her in-person for years before running into her filming.)
