Yes, her knee jerk reaction might be "I want to go back to normal" but we're at a point where the fear of vaginoplasty is impacting her decision, and it should not be the deciding factor on whether she lives as a man or a woman.

2) Real life trans people deal. People with tattoos deal. There are plenty of reasons people might be unwilling/unable to participate in public bathing. I'm sure "fear of/lack of desire for an invasive procedure" is as good a reason as any.

There are plenty of people who voluntarily don't undergo vaginoplasty but live as women. It is one aspect of socialization in Japan. It's not the end of the world to not be able to participate in public bathing when all other aspects of a social life are open to you.

Like yeah, it's unfortunate that she's forced into a situation where she has to decide between fitting in and comfort, but a lot of people don't get that choice in the first place just because of the way they're born. I'm not saying she shouldn't consider the risks of vaginoplasty, I'm saying fear of it shouldn't be the reason she decides to live as a man when the option of living as a woman with a penis is one that is frequently chosen in real life even in Japan.
