Thanks to this manga a desire to once again explore the ropes of ethics starts to loom up inside of me, bringing back the glee of tracing the thoughts of the great thinkers and excessively exercising my mind.

I like the characters but isn't this series treated sexual assault too lightly?
2 chapters in, 2 cases of it that the victims seemed to brush-off like it was nothing.

edit: I know this girl almost kill herself but after the teacher talked her out of it she changed her mood quite too much in my opinion.

@reishiki true, should've reported to the police, there's bound to be evidence everywhere in that "sex club"
but also, she needs therapy
the way this was resolved makes light of mental health too, i mean she was on the verge of ending it, that's not an easy decision

@reishiki it s easy to change your mood for a moment

the real battle against trauma and depression is a long one. sure the teacher made her not kill herself there and her mood improved because someone in her life reached out. i don t think that s forced or unrealistic as the majority say here, and that s because, it does not mean at all this girl forgot the rape, she may as well fall for it in the near future.

reaching out for people that want to suicide is possible because it s something nobody wishes for to start with, it s something people are pushed into.

long term ofc she needs therapy and a lot of help and will never fully recover but can be helped, no doubt about it.

that said, i think it s enough raped girls right? it would be great if we had new student problems. i like the series until now, it s a refreshing more realistic take in the gto amazing teacher genre

@elefantine97 I agree she should probably get therapy. But I don’t think it’s inherently “making light” of mental health. Not everyone comes to the same decisions as others and not everyone needs the same level as counseling as others after making/attempting a choice like hers. Some people will come out of a suicide attempt with a new found appreciation of life and those around them, some people may regret the descion but still see their life as “unworthy” or “unchanging” and may move on with life but never really “get over” their problem, some may see it simply as a failure but their loved ones (if they have them) reactions or the new found knowledge of the effects of their possible death give them this warped sense of “responsibility” to live for the sake of others but not themselves.

These are all very exaggerated and simplistic examples, psychology is vast and extremely situional. But I hope it’s at least gotten my point across that someone seemingly “getting over” a situation like due to very odd and frankly absurd discussion she had with her teacher is not as much “making light” of mental health as much as is portraying (imo) one of the millions of possible ways someone may use (consciously or otherwise) to legitimately get over a tragic event, even if this particular depiction is quite...essentiric, to say the least. People cope and recover in different ways.

Edit @leaderreborn expressed my view on it in a much better and more concise way than I did 😅 I whole heartedly agree with everything he said. Both as someone who has experienced deep depresion and someone with a mild interest in psychology because of those experiences. Thank you for being able to convey your thoughts better than I was !

Sidenote: yea, I appreciate that manga and anime acknowledge that sexual violence: exists, and is a big problem. But it’s also very overused and usually not depicted in a...”tasteful” way ? That feels like the wrong word but I’ll choose to stick with it. It’s very often used as pure shock value or simply another box on the checklist of “problems” faced by a character or group of characters rather than treated with the respect and care a topic like this demands. Controversial topics like these will always exist, but the way they’re treated and depicted in most series is distasteful at best. I too hope we go into different scenarios cause I’ve always been a fan of the “super life-changing teacher” series’.

I hope you guys realize that what's considered normal in Japan might not be normal in your country
