Those chicks are not sparrows. They are swallows. Probably the translator's fault, the mangaka put some effort into getting the swallow nest and the chicks drawn well. He also knew about their reaction to quick movement, they're fast insect hunters after all.

I think Mama deliberately sang the wrong lyrics, trying to plant a notion in Anjou’s mind—“Think of me while you’re kissing him,” to try and slow her down. And maybe, “Don’t make the same mistakes I did,” if she did in fact have Anjou out of wedlock.
