@criver now revenge stories are not my favorite, i mostly prefer slice of life. but when i DO look for some revenge stories i expect some ACTUAL REVENGE not moral bullshit. when a mc hesitates to take the life of a vile piece-of-shit who ruined their life i don't want to hear moral highground bullshit excuses like "if i kill you i will be just as bad as you." i want to hear a LOGICAL reason such as "they have never taken a life", or "they have never held a weapon." FAR to often i only find the "moral bullshit hesitation" instead of the "logical hesitation" the moral bullshit is shoehorned in. this manga lacking story as it is at least COMMITS to the revenge aspect that i came for.

I was thinking more as collateral damage. None of his targets so far had even a shred of decency, true. But he's getting wilder with his antics. What if a berserker got out? Or maybe the general had a newly hired servant not indoctrinated/party to cannibalism? Perhaps an innocent child stood up for the princess out of childish admiration and courage? I want to see how he deals with that situation, not just more edgy revenge.

Even Kratos got his just deserts for his actions, and eventually faced his inner monster. It's why the newest entry in God of War was so compelling to me. It's also not a fair comparison. Kratos was bloodthirsty. Raoul is bloodthirsty and calculating. He has another dimension, unlike Kratos.

Wait.. so instead of using the drug to poison the water supply of their nation's enemies, they instead used on their own army.

is all the villains in this tale stupid?
The last one was a family that gained strength via the torture and cannibalism of anything living. Except it wasn't the torture and cannibalism of their enemies but instead their own people.

This feels more like a comedy of horror.

I don't mind him committing to revenge - the issue is that everybody he kills is one-dimensional and somehow entirely "evil". There are simply no such people - those are just plot devices, implausible ones at that. So at the end of the day you have some pretentious clown fighting windmills. The worst part is that the author is trying to pass it off as something serious, when the only way to play out something like this without insulting the intelligence of the readers would be a comedy. Can't say it's peak writing or entertainment.

@toastedguy It´s a manga about a guy torturing and killing people in extrem ways to satisfy readers who mainly read it for the gore. The whole story is just a excuse to show lots and lots of violence. There isn´t really any reason to think deeper about anything that happens because the author clearly didn´t care about anything except coming up with more brutal and fucked up ways for the MC to kill his victims.

@MinecraftNoob can't you feel the tiniest bit of sweet vengeance, some sweet sweet justice ? it differs quite a bit from a manga like deadtube where it's really just to satisfy some really disturbing impulses 😏

@criver 99% of villains in fiction are like that, the only difference is that he actualy finish them, what those guys did is not much worst than the scientific guy did in Bleach and everyone forgive him for no reason in litteraly one arc.

It's a revenge slasher, the whole point is that he is taking gruesome righteous revenge, throwing some innoncent people or morally grey stuff would just end up frustrating, you don't see the rapists portrayed as redeemable in 'i'll spit on your grave' for exemple.

No, because we don´t get to know any character long enough to care about them, the stuff that happens to them or the evil things they did. Look, if you count earlier chapters, we only got like four pages about the supplementary soldiers that were killed by the drug. And they are the whole reason why MC is targeting the scientists. We also got only one short flashback for his sister and one short scene about his hometown.
Same goes for the villains: The leaders of the scientists got a whole chapter, but in most cases we only get a few panels where the bad guys spews unrealistic evil stuff like "Soldiers are worthless" so we know they are evil beyond redemption. We don´t even find out in which context or to whom they said that.

A revenge-story can feel satisfying, but in my opinion, this one is just too impatient and only does the absolute minimum work to be more than a random selection of gore scenes.

As always, brilliant character development from the author.

Curious about this Lucas guy, I though he was the MC in disguise for a sec but seems not.

i thought he was going to use the transformed people to hunt down and torture the elites on top but i guess he just turned them in order to kill them.

I know it's a hyperbole, but still, start reading better works too.

throwing some innocent people or morally grey stuff would just end up frustrating,
Not doing it, and copping out with:
all 231 of them were really baaad.
makes the whole thing look ridiculous and pretentious. Morally grey stuff may be frustrating - good. The alternative is an insult to your intelligence. I know for sure which I would pick.

TLDR: Pretentious power trip fantasies are pretentious and have weak writing.

Why is it only 15 pages for one month wait? Shouldn't the chapter be longer?

So that was it? Those researchers/scientists thought they were elites when it turns out they were scum... I agree with the MC, the Ruling class has to go.
