Honestly, this arc needs to happen. Meguro and MC can't just pretend her exes don't exist when she's dated half the school; she has to reconcile with some of them or she'll always be isolated. Hopefully Ex-kun here has realized that Meguro's worth being platonic friends with, and he's currently trying to figure how to do that without making his girlfriend feel insecure. But if he tries to make a move on her...well, then obviously he gets rejected and Twintails learns how to pick better boyfriends.

@nobaka She's the archetypal tsundere. Sure she's anxious, but she is projecting her anxiety into hostility towards Meguro. A classic and tired trope of tsunderes. The twist here being her anxiety is over the potential actions of her boyfriend, not Meguro's actions. Meg did nothing wrong, and I as the reader have to read her being given abuse by a cookie-cutter tsundere for the purposes of character development. because of that, and because she is a terrible character, I will only be happy if twintails ends up miserable and is never seen again. I might back off the last part if she returns contrite and reformed. This whole setup could have been done 6 million other ways, with a character that doesn't exemplify the worst trope in Japanese media.

i find people are way too quick to label every character that's rude to be tsundere. being mean to one person but nice to another isn't tsundere, and we honestly haven't seen enough of this character to know either way. Being mad at meguro initially and having that change doesn't make her a tsundere, it's just people getting to know each other. if they were FRIENDS for a long period and she still treated meguro like that, then yeah, probably a tsundere.

@nobaka She's not a tsundere because she's rude, it is because she expresses her anxiety as hostility. And she isn't just nice, she's aggressively fawning, again out of insecurity. The trope lines up, tied in the proverbial bow of twintails.
Also the whole deal with tsundere is that once you get to know them, they open up more honestly instead of explosively, because they are ready to be vulnerable around you. If she treated her friends like that then she's just a cunt. The idea of the whole trope is that they act out to hide their insecurity in a childish manner, thus highlighting those insecurities and potentially engendering endearment in the reader. This girl is textbook, albeit somewhat divorced from the moe intentions of such a design.
Other girls might think of Meguro the same way, but they express don't express it as open hostility, thinly veiling their insecurities.

If that statement comes from personal experience, I advise you to run far and seek help. Normal, well-adjusted people don't behave like that even if they absolutely hate you.

I recently realized however, that I've become the very thing I thought I would never become: a man in his 30s arguing over the definition of tsundere. Because of that, I'm going to leave it here. While I do think this character is an obvious and annoying trope, you are also entitled to your uninformed opinion.

PS: All meant in jest, and I reckon you're right; that boyfriend is going to expose himself as the problem he clearly is. Best Virgin will keep his girl, and twintails will have her fears confirmed.

I reckon his virginity is gonna be the next obstacle for character development, or should be at some point. MC has been winning for too long, he needs to have some insecurities dealt with. How is he gonna deal with a thirsty Meguro, without feeling like he's replaying the role of the exes? Plus It would be development for Meguro, for whom sex has been barely a formality rather than an expression of passion. Or, we could get the cop-out route where they wait until after college or something, and we have to be satisfied with a time skip. Or will Virgin-kun have a laundry list of kinks Meguro can't possibly fulfil? What if Meguro is a dead fish in bed? What if Virgin-kun turns into Hypersexual-sama the moment he wets his head?
Suddenly I'm liking the idea of this becoming a manga about going to couples therapy to save their sex lives.
