That said, I can believe something like what happened at the end of Fight Club and in this chapter can actually happen. The odds are long indeed... but sometimes, real life can be stranger than fiction.

This may just me being nitpicky, but the artist really have to do more with the character designs to differentiate between sides. Everyone that are not the MCs and the knight entourages looks the same.

The bandits are defectors from the same queendom. If the military only has a few artisans, there won't be many differences in their standard issue equipment. Especially since we done see any heraldry during the combat scenes.

Warhorses are strong. The sword is big, but it's not impossible he could swing it - he's jacked as hell. Neither of those contradict the fact that his mouth is flesh and his teeth are enamel, neither of which are suitable protection against a sharpened metal projectile moving at considerable speed.

What the fuck. How the hell can you not know you've just given yourself an unintentional lobotomy for almost a fucking week - and the hospital then says that it's not even the first time they've seen it happen.

The same reason why people don't notice right away when they lose limbs from letting them hang outside of car windows - it happens so suddenly that your nervous system doesn't even have a chance to register it, and this primarily because our nervous system works by squirting chemicals across the nano-scopic gaps between them. If an adjacent nerve cell gets ripped away before it has a chance to send a pain signal, then there's no pain to be felt.

It's like you and a buddy are standing a sentry watch together, and some ninja comes and disappears your buddy without you seeing it - they never even had a chance to even make a sound.

As for the brain... Nothing got removed... Just moved slightly to the side. Brains are surprisingly adaptive. Actual "Brain Damage" usually happens when blood flow is cut from a part of your brain (e.g.: strokes and aneurisms) and parts of your brain die off from oxygen starvation. This is why goose-eggs (ginourmous bump on the head) are dangerous - you may have a blood clot get loose and lodge itself in an artery in your brain. It's only when the stuff that handles our autonomic functions gets harmed where shit gets instantly lethal.

............I'm not sure how I feel about the characterization of Caroline so far. The tears flowing out of the helmet and the dramatic and "noble" way she acts feel very different to her web novel counterpart. I wonder if this is a rewrite by the author to help better explain another specific character's personality.
All in all, it's certainly a departure from Caroline's isolation, despondence, and desperation in the web novel.

This is actually a common recurrance on a WN adaptation.

Switching format tend to leave out some gaps here and there; and there are things that can only be fully explained in certain format (visual, audio, etc), like physical wounds; facial expression, emotions, etc

And while some wn author do bother to revisit their older chapter and revise it to meet their present values and norms; some opt to just rewrite the whole thing either as a new serialization or on a different format.

Plus the additional presence of artist and editor could spot some things that wn author tend to slip by or potential piece to rewrite.

.......This is usually the common reason of why some adaptation are better or worse than their source materials.

You mean Asanagi right? I also see similarities, but art is rough enough for plausible deniability, or it really is someone else but clearly inspired by Asanagi.

I don't think it's Asanagi, his style is very distinct. Fun fact though, he actually does the illustrations for the light novel of this series
