Yay! It's been so long. Finally a new chapter!
EDIT: Of course by ↑that↑ I meant : THANK YOU, translator-chans!!!

But I fear for the worst. She is going into the enemy's castle, isn't she? All she would have to do is to ask the spirits to extinguish all candles or general all fires in the churches for the next two weeks and in all armories, working on further weapon production. Also, if possible the spirits should write "WAR IS BAD!!!!!!" onto the church walls, with whatever paint or colors they get (except blood, even if it would be priestblood) and write it on the inside and outside. And that would be step one.
On official declaration of war, just stop all magic altogether in the major cities again and this time keep it that way. And whenever the church is declaring something or providing an explanation that fits their ways, just do something that contradicts that. Just harass the shit out of them! The fairies were right all along from the very beginning. They look naive, but are wise. If they do evil stuff, harass them!

It's really strange that Ruri doesn't just stop all of Nadarsia's magic again. Then again, we haven't actually been told or shown what exactly they do with magic and what it really means to not have it. Once again though, I do wish that these authors could stop relying on religion being hilariously evil. I mean, western religions have been pretty scummy in the past, but it just gets boring to read every time.

@Aretheus "Actually, in this world, not being able to use magic is a matter of life and death", "But the power of the fairies is vital to everyday life here" quotes from Chelsea in chapter 3.2, p4.

I'm wondering if they are even providing the basic need for the people with the magic by this point though.

IKR? It was interesting 20 years ago, when it wasn't abused as it is nowadays. As soon, as there is an slightly organized religion, you can count on them being the big evil or at least an evil.

And the way they are acting in most cases. Stupid beyond believe. I know, that an organization big enough, will have corrupted influences within itself and most MC in isekais are a force to recon with, so that those organizations can't possibly ignore them. But why are they always sending the most suspicious guys, with only half of a brain, after those MC like a heat seeking missile? Or in this case here, they are forging their own holy scrolls so stupidly, it hurts. And they wage a war for short term profits, that WILL lower their overall income in the years to come. I mean, they know they won't win, as their saint is a fake, they created. They are just evil for story reasons, but not for logic ones.

I don't say, the authors should highlight a church in the best colors. They are bound to have faults as a big organisation, but really. Badly portrait evil church is boring af.

It's always nobles and the church. How about corrupt merchants for a change? Big companies, that bought their way into everything. Or an evil racial-chauvinistic dragonrace? Or terrorists? Terrorists have been abused in movies like the heck (Even in the last 3 Star Trek movies. Nero, Khan and that one last guy. All terrorists.), but they would be rather fresh in fantasy stories. Show us, why that is evil. Or Nationalists! Don't just go, "Oh, look! It's a bad country." Flavor it out! Show the citizens!

But there are stories out there, that are worse then this one here, so I'm willing to let it slide in this case. That is just a stupid religion, that is hurting the people instead of helping them and therefore should cease to exist or be reformed. Let's just assume, it is at its lowest low.

The last time magic was banned, the kingdom claimed it was because god was punishing them for not exiling all the nonbelievers. So when the ban ended, they tossed people into that demonic beast filled forest.

@Cryotic I knew about that line, but that's way too vague for me to understand what it really means in a practical sense. The only illustration they showed was some priests looking slightly concerned. I mean, does it disable healthcare? Do they have an alternative water supply? Do they know how to start fires manually? Was waste disposal being handled by magic? Do they have any military wizards? etc.

A lot of people here hate Asahi but I think she is quite pitiful

She was ruined by her environment, and was pampered since birth
She has a lot of friends but none of them are actually really her friend, they are her followers
Even though she indirectly ruined her (from her view) BFF's life, she cannot understand it because of her pampered upbringing
Now, she gets dragged into this mess, gets told that BFF (the person who is like the core of her being) is kidnapped when she was actually nearly killed by her new "friends", filled with lies and deceit, and turned into a political murder tool

Her only true sin is ignorance, perpetuated by the people who have clung onto her like a parasite
and I bet she will get blamed for the mess too for things she was not responsible for

That sucks

Oh man. If I was Ruri and saw all that disaster and poverty I would’ve flew straight over to Nardasia and end the war myself. Take away the king and high priests. All of your are gone lol. Full rage.

@viewiful what a great insight, and that in truth BFF don't really want to have revenge but just want Asahi to be normal or something along that lines, she just hate that she being picked up by Asahi's followers due to how ignorance Asahi is and dose not get the clue the other person wants to be left alone.

@viewtiful She was ruined by her environment, and was pampered since birth

That only explains her behavior; it doesn't excuse it. Some people, even pampered from birth, turn out to be well-adjusted empathetic humans, even without being explicitly taught.

"Hey, fairies. Could you please stop assisting in any weapon production? Also, don't help people while they advocate for war. Thanks" I'm sure I missed something, but that seems reasonable.

@Aretheus I completely agree that the author here is trying to do some major hand waving ‘oooooo magic is so mysterious’ to get away with some glaring plot holes. Within the first few chapters I couldn’t help but notice the contradiction of ‘only very few people people can use magic’ and ‘the ability to use magic is a matter of life or death to everyone’.
If the main focus of the plot was more shoujo-ish (centering exclusively on Jade/Ruri) I could understand some glossing over holes. But, it’s hard to ignore when Ruri’s magic and how it affects the world around her has been the common thread of the story.

Indeed, author hasn't told what usage magic has. And as it's only a few people who are able to perform such a deed, and it's mainly the priesthood. I would assume it's some kind of magic which performs and or affect in large scale/area. Since it's vital, I would guess magic serves as fertilizer for the plants/harvest or as you mention cleansing water. I would doubt it's magic that is used to perform daily usage, such as lighting the fire for someone, but rather magic which lasts for some time, so the few people who are able to use it can maintain their regions.
