We are aware that Koa is female and Chai is male, but it would seem that some translation errors slipped through the cracks. I am in CLRD, so I do not know if our MC is just unaware and assuming Koa is male, or if he's using genderless pronouns, but either could be the case. We are currently sifting through the chapters we've scanlated thus far to see if anything else was missed and will make updates with the corrections.

and Chai is male.
Koa being One of the Kings of the Forest seem to be just a "title" for the leaders of their species, this also applies to Chief and Shuri.

MC seems to know all genders of his companions, that's why he puts effort in naming them by gender.. except for the insects.. I think y'all already know why lmaoo..
And yes he does use neutral pronoun..
cmiiw, but the way he says "Good Boy", I think in JP, he said "Good Child/ren"..
and since they're dogs technically, Good Boy seems fitting when translating in English.
