Well, from what we saw, i have a theory, that 2nd prince/Acquila/ ML was the dragon in disguise of human, fell in love with Duchess Lamia, and this is portrayed in the fairytale from the beginning chapters, also flashbacks are the proof. Now, after his rebirth, MC lost all of his memories, but had his power of dragon(and maybe his original personality(like despising people),. Moreover, even if considering the possibility the MC wasn’t bad in his previous life, he might have acquired all this evilness, because people were calling his mother a witch, whereas his mother was his only close and dear person. In some time he might have had the flashbacks of his previous life( just like Lamia) and remembered everything. But MC is already late, he harmed Lamia’s brother(Uri is such a cinnamon roll, little Uri is so cuute) and Lamia might hate him. It’s just my theory.
I also don’t like Lamia much, she was forcing Uri to become the Duke, even so everyone probably, and Uri too was against it.
Anyway I look forward to next update
Thanks for the chapter

Nah, dont give two shits about this absolute psychopath any longer. Dont care that they were in love in a different timeline. The only way this non-human can start to redeem himself is to confess everything that has happened, work for the rest of his life to protect lamia while she gets to live the life she wants, no matter what it is.

Edit: the theory comments are the best bit, no matter how absolutely outlandish some are.

@Spookie

I believe you're the one that is confused. Most of us realise this chapter is flashback.
The time travel we theorise is something that would happen chronologically later than the events of this chapter.

2nd prince who has most of the wealth, whose family controls the wealth distribution and keeps it at the top because of the nature of their unjust socioeconomic system: how dare these poor people who were forced to find any way to survive be GREEDY

also basically what is happening:
- current chapter is flashback
- at a later time after this event, lamia's father goes missing and presumably is assassinated
- lamia probably gives her brother the dukedom
- things happen and somehow along the way she develops a more amicable relationship with the prince and he falls in love with her, maybe they are even together
- through whatever circumstance, lamia dies
- the 2nd prince is the dragon from the legend so he has the power to undo this. in his despair, he does not time travel per say - he literally rewinds time, back to the day lamia's father goes missing.
we start the story here.
-when lamia wakes up she cries for a reason she doesn't understand, because deep down the memory of the future is still there or whatever.
- second prince goes to find lamia's father and stops the assassination attempt (which it seems he had ordered because of the kind of person he was at this original point in time, along with the other attacks on lamia that follow) and saves the father
- and we have seen everything he has done from there play out in the story. he is trying to undo everything so that the circumstances which led to lamia's death do not reform.
that's it

I doubt Aquilla was behind the assasination. Remember how Uriel said that there's no way Aquilla would care about all the political drama and go out of his way to hijack their father?

I'd be more fired up if Aquilla was the one who killed her...I just love thrillers and suspense.

@Nicromatic Ah if you're talking about the prince after Lamia dies then yeah he did time travel. That much is obvious.

I just went at it with no context on your comment because in the earlier chapters of the flashback people had no idea what was going on. They thought that Uriel went back in time lol. Because they're used to the white/black borders being present and past.

So it was just a whole lotta misinterpretations.

I'm guessing he doesn't want her to know he was close to the 2nd prince, even though I don't think she would be too mad about it. What interests me is, why does Aquila love Lamia? What happened before he time traveled? I mean, if we say he went back to the time before her death, but after he crippled her brother, in the previous timeline he would have crippled the brother too and Lamia wouldn't have gotten near him.
Unless he fell in love a first sight or something and only stalked Lamia from afar...
Or (this is just a wild guess) the 1st wanted to make Lamia the duchess, so he thought killing her father would force her to take that role. In the previous timeline she somehow got to know that, after becoming the duchess (hence Aquila calling her "Duchess Lamia") and started backing the 2nd prince, the lesser of the two evil princes (in her eyes.) Then she gets to know his kind side and realizes he is probably just a slightly crazy volatile kind guy and he fell in love with her at some point. If the 1st prince really was behind the death of her father, he is a real asshole. I mean, he and Lamia know each other since they were kids... to force her to become a duchess he would kill her family? Though it was mentioned he was a true politician or something and that it was unexpected that he critized Lamia so directly when she said she wanted to become a knight. Maybe the royal family there had too much incest for centuries and now all their members are crazy psychos...

oke i don't understand anything after re-reading all those chapters. I expect to understand the story by following every chapters but my head hurts more. is it because i've been resting my brain for almost 3 months on quarantine or because every chapters just reveal a little jumbling information that i couldnt take the conclusion up to the latest. I dont know, maybe i've read too much romance that i cant proceed this heavy plot.

maybe waiting for a mass update is the best for my brain hahaha

I think the 2nd prince has dual personalities - one is the dragon that despised everything and one is the real him that loves the “duchess” and wants to protect her family. I believe he’s also aware of it because he admitted to Lamia that he was involved in the making of the red spherical crystal and the assassination attempt on the Duke (but it’s technically the dragon). We just have to patiently wait for the twist to reveal itself! Easier said than done but that’s how the cookie crumbles, no?

Lmaooooo ML was legit a psychopath. Might as well just make him the villain.

I honestly don’t like the irredeemable chaotic psychopath who treats people nicely just that the one person they give two shits about will like them back thing that’s going on here. The only character I’m invested in so far is Uri and it seems like this whole story is torture porn for him. Maybe it’s just not for me. Dropped.
