Sort of makes sense in this case:

If the baddie charged she'd either have to leave her Zombarchers behind, or have them shuffle forward in which case the adventurers would see them coming rather than suddenly become pin cushions when arrows pop up through the wall.

Also the adventurers might just decide to flee when they see they're outnumbered within enemy territory.

I am all too eager to see how this plays out now. Also I find it weird how they were questioning if Alice was truly evil or not by this point considering the evidence. Yeah there is a chance she is not totally evil but she did just indirectly slaughter an entire village of innocent people via bandits and used their bodies for research material. They're some sort of demi-gauntlet for thieves. That is, there's a strap on the palm side that holds the paw part covering the back of the hand. This way she has the full use of her fingers suitable for thieves while wearing some protection.
