This type of shit is called smut. It is just horny bait with the same cliche plot beats. First chapter alone is enough evidence of that. Author could have done something different with it but completely abandoned the premise by chapter 2. The characterization whiplash caused by the FMC makes it pretty obvious. So you need to know what you are reading before having unrealistic expectations considering there are hundreds of smut manga while only handful of actual good ones. As an example, i enjoy Frieren plenty but don't expect that quality of story telling in shit like this. It is what it is.

... no it isn't? No it isn't. Smut is something very particular, it's porn but with words. This isn't that. A smut manga would've had a sex scene in the first chapter and probably would've opened with a tease of it. There'd then be sex every chapter since. Cause that's the point of smut. If I was a smut reader and read this I'd be annoyed. Like, constantly. The point of those stories is the sex, while in this story that literally hasn't happened yet.

This is a character-based romance, and thus what's important is characterization and character relationship growth. Thus a moment like this chapter, where you learn something important about the characters and have them make a decision about how their relationship will progress, is the point.

If you're going to dig through trash to find things, you have to have a keen eye for what you've found and what makes it good. What you've found here is a sweet character-focused romance with a bad introduction for the female lead.

I like that FMC has a panick attack as she's about to have sex with the MC. It hits at the personality problem she's developed trying to move from plain to a popular girl. Guys used her because she wanted to appease them which broke her when the dumped her after getting what they wanted. The change caused the girls to hate her because they thought of her as a slut. When confronted with a truly normal loving and intimate moment, FMC has a anxiety attask as she realizes she doesn't want the relationship to end because they have sex.
