This isn't some story of catching your ex lover in an act of infidelity and getting an epic win. This is an emotional story of a woman trying to take back control of her life with all the ups and downs int brings. They already told you that her fingerprints wouldn't hold up in court and she didn't have any good photographic proof to begin with. This plan was doom to fail form the start.

The point of the set up of that was to bring a further look on to her friends that decided to help her even if Kyouko made a gigantic mistake. To plant one last seed of doubt into Momoka. There is no sense of loss because they had nothing to begin with, it was always about their relationship than getting a fool proof plan together. We also don't know when that video was taken. For all we know Mahoro was the reason he decided to get that footage in the first place.
Yeah, at minimum I don't think he'd have gotten that footage if Mahoro didn't tell him about the affair in the first place, and of course the party itself that created the perfect conditions to show it was her spur-of-the-moment idea. Just because he was the one who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for her doesn't mean her contributions up to that point didn't matter.

Pretty much; yes. Very much can tell this is a josei work when the FeMC has to get bailed out by their male love interest. Though usually they dont throw three women under the bus...

Seriously, why did you hold onto that, Itsuki? Why didn't you say anything? Let the women play with toys while you had the HYDROGEN BOMB in your back pocket...
It's a bit different in that it's not the love interest.

Forcing the b*tch of a mother to watch her son have an affair after trying to defend him and making her think she's a human (a compliment) is going to make her have a heart attack!

Clearly he's known for a while and has been building a huge case to force Rio to stay. That explains why he always seemed cold about it because he became numb. Rio and Rei will lose divorce court and since Rio used his money to make the cafe she will almost assuredly have significant debt to him which would cause Rei to abandon her

I wonder if Itsuki’s suggestion to Mahoro to post social media bait prompted Rio to make the tape.

I think Itsuki welcomed Mahoro’s involvement because he could position her as the most tempting centerpiece bait for Rio. A big party with all their friends where it seems like Mahoro has absolutely lost against Rio, and even Rio’s husband is on her side. As long as these prompts are coming from Mahoro, Rio’s guard will be down.

TACTICAL NUKE

Still, a little disappointed in Mahoro, why didn't she bring how they came out of a love hotel and everything else?

I suppose a literal sextape is a stronger proof than anything else. Now go get that divorce
She didn't have any proof. She tried taking a picture, but it was shaky and they weren't clear in it.

What seems to be covered is her saying second so it was most likely really early in the affair and he's always known but was keeping it to go after Rio if she ever said anything about a divorce

Damn. Rio's husband had a bombshell like that and he kept it all to himself?

Kind of makes all the evidence the MC and her crew spent the entire story gathering seem kind of unnecessary.

Thats a whole lotta words to minimize that Mahoro had to be bailed out due to repeated displays of impulsiveness.

It's okay to criticize female Mcs, even when they are going through stress. Im sure Itsuki went through stress too and look how he handled this.

God and to think...depending on how old this video is, this could either have made the last 10 or so chapters complete padding, or maybe even the whole previous 43 chapters padding lmao.

But to be fair, maybe getting to see this steel chair moment in this chapter was worth all the wait.

I'm so glad you said this. I'm really tired of people just entirely missing what this manga is about. The cheating, the thriller elements etc. it's all set dressing for Mahoro's story of emancipation. It doesn't actually really matter what proof Mahoro had, or when she came out with it or whether or not it was enough evidence to win in divorce court. The story was always about Mahoro opening her eyes to the people around her, and what her life will look like after that has happened.

I'll give Itsuki a charitable reading and say he had been building his own case independently then decided to back up Mahoro's own case once she approached him. He didn't need to suggest a party putting everyone's key players all in one place and could have just discreetly dealt with Rio on his own. Can't fault Mahoro for finally going off-script. Getting backstabbed by multiple supposedly close friends and staying cool is no easy feat, if anything it's a miracle she held on that long

I'm not minimizing anything. This plan was cheeks to begin with and was NEVER going to work. That's critisim. This plan was a half baked cover up in the first place. If you feel a bit upset at this act of impulsive failure, that's cool.

I'm talking about the people that have constantly criticized Mahoro and this story even after finding out Rei is cheating. The people who went and still go "well she's not the great either" The perplex who go "josei gonna josei and have thier girl failurs contibute nothing of importance." Those peopel didn't go away, they've just been shitting on Mahoro this whole time. They just threw Rei under they bus after they couldn't cry about "resonable doubt." The "unrilable narrator" they kept throwing at Mahoro has just turned into "unrilable Mahoro."

Maybe that's what the story is about to you, but we each get to decide what elements of the story matter to us, and whether they are satisfying.

This sounds an awful lot like changing their minds in the face of new and compelling evidence. Which is what people are supposed to do.

Rio was married to the absolute GOAT and she lusted after... clown-ass Rei.

The mother-in-law has now seen her son's P in a married woman's V and you just know she's going to try to blame it all on Mahoro for being such a lousy babyless wife. Her precious boy did nothing wrong!
