I love that near the end of it all this comment section can still find time to hate on Mahoro who is just a woman going through the most stressful time of her life. Never change Mangadex comments. I know a lot of you would say you'd never be that dumb but I doubt you'd find someone to trick into loving you like you your hero Rei-kun did.
Mahoro exists irl, and most of them won't have someone like itsuki who has concrete evidence. She just ruined all of their planning and preparation for divorce when she couldn't hold herself after getting that fingerprint retrieved from a toy. She has no comeback from that without itsuki.

The stakes are high, one needs to sacrifice theirselves, endure everything until preparation is complete, so they'll get the last laugh or at least compensated. Having the party itself was a really bad move tho I guess itsuki pushed this as he already had that tape to begin with.

not saying it'd be right but imagine if this went online and viral or if one of the friends there was some popular live stream if not at least sent to all her cafe customer

but the angle of it makes it looks like a camera was on the ceiling? of their room or so unless they had some tripod stand lol

Tho that's one way to get more solid proof haha. watch as the mom somehow still blame mahoro on it like "it's your fault for not satisfying him enough" or whatever bs

Maybe that's what the story is about to you, but we each get to decide what elements of the story matter to us, and whether they are satisfying.

This sounds an awful lot like changing their minds in the face of new and compelling evidence. Which is what people are supposed to do.
There's not what the story is about to me. There is either what is happening and what isn't. You can care about whatever you want but that doesn't remove the context of the things happening in this narrative and why they are happening and how they effect the characters. This isn't so collage paper where you "kill the author". This is a straightforward cheating story about a woman getting her shit straight.

And I've already given people in this comment sectinon too much benefit of the doubt with how they choose to express themselves but sometimes as spade is a spade. If you spent this whole story shitting on Mahoro, you might have a shitty opinion on this story and I don't have to care what they think. For as much as people (including me) yap about this story, its not that deep and every easy to get. So if they had to have their minds change about Rei being an asshole, they might need to go back to school and learn how to read.

RIP Rio and Rei :02:😂🤣

Itsuki, what a CHAD!
Looking at Rei's dumb face was worth all the hardship. Fuck you asshole!
I'm waiting for Rio's stupid reason why she chooses to sleep with this dumb shit. :pepehmm:

Also, people saying Mahoro is dumb...

First of all, this is a drama! Seeing people doing stupid things so they can yell at other people and cry after is one of the main reason I read/watch drama.

Second, she was made to be a self insert for the reader, she must have flaws or people will complain that she is too perfect and can't identify as her.

Third, what she did was pretty human. She just snap. She literally has her fake best friend who is sleeping with her stupid husband right in front of her after she (partially) confirmed she was the one who left a condom full of sperm at her front door and a note taunting about sleeping with her husband.... Of course, she will snap!

The only thing I will complain is that author give all the cool, rational role to dudes she found attractive (Haruto and Itsuki). Kyouko had the rational role, but it didn't really pay off. Author, we really get it what is your type of guy :haa:

I'm so glad you said this. I'm really tired of people just entirely missing what this manga is about. The cheating, the thriller elements etc. it's all set dressing for Mahoro's story of emancipation. It doesn't actually really matter what proof Mahoro had, or when she came out with it or whether or not it was enough evidence to win in divorce court. The story was always about Mahoro opening her eyes to the people around her, and what her life will look like after that has happened.
I think the reason this element was even a part of the story is because Japan doesn’t have no fault divorce. And if your partner thus doesn’t agree to separate you are stuck.

To me, the story could’ve still worked if no fault divorce was an option. It just would leave out the ‘trying to get evidence’ part (unless there was an option for receiving benefits from proofing you ended your marriage due to your partner cheating).

I actually kinda hope the author doesn’t rush with the ‘after’ part and instead leaves a few chapters to explore that. For one, I’d hate the idea of her immediately jumping into a new relationship (be it Haruto or anyone else) but doing it after showing how she ended up dealing with everything and then a time skip would be welcomed by me. Mahoro deserves some nice D in her life but preferably after healing.

I don't know if I find it funny or depressing, or both tbh. It's like they forgot that before the bag and before she found out her husband was cheating, she was genuinely in love with him and believed they were happily married. Like who wouldn't break under circumstances like these?? The fact that she has kept it together for this long is surprising. Too many people here like to imagine themselves being as cool and collected as Rio's husband when in reality the vast majority would've blown the cover all the way back in the restaurant, long before any of this. I don't know if it's a lack of empathy or something else but god damn

Okay? Right back at ya, pal. Maybe we've given you too much benefit of the doubt and we don't have to care what you think, how about that?

Death of the Author is a valid lens to interpret any story, not just some ivory tower college exercise.

To each their own, but Mahoro is allegedly a real person the author knows personally, so not a self-insert character for the reader.

This your first time reading a manga comments section or something? People are always backseating. Also, we can have empathy for a character and still criticize their actions.

What happens in the story and what the story is about are two distinct and not always equal things. Does this story has Mahoro opening her eyes to the people around her, and perhaps even what her life will look like after that has happened? Sure. Is this story about all those things? Well you know that's just like your opinion man. Or maybe even the author's, perhaps the author intended for the story to come off like it is about all of those things, but unless we hear from the author directly, and we take their words as a gospel - which we are well entitled not to, "kill the author" and all - any claims about the theme and the messages of the story beyond word-to-word descriptions of what happens in the manga are subjective opinions, and it'd be arrogant to purport them as objective truth. And as it stands, the author did include the investigation, evidence gathering, all those thriller elements into their manga as objective things that happened in their manga. For one, if Rio's husband wasn't there to save the group out of their failed investigation, we can extrapolate the the ending might have been vastly different, and so are the messaging and the takeaways of the whole story.
Unless Mahoro sits on a chair backwards, faces the camera and says, "that's it folks, that was the story about how I was cheated on, but then got my shit straight". Then I would concede my point.

Momoko also had a rational role & I found her the most interesting of the support characters since she'd been on the other side as the affair partner.

Oh brother that stinks. We're all entitled to our opinion but I'm also entitled to tell someone theirs is ass. I'm tired of people hiding dogshit takes behind, "ist just my opinon." Again, I don't care what this story means to you. It can mean whatever it wants, but when its showing yout that Rei is an asshole, he's probbly an asshole.

Most of you actually don't know that "Death of the author" even is. It isn't there to insert your own values onto a text. Its to remove the authors life and world experience, from it. Even if this wasn't written by a 40 year old Japanes worman, there's just some things you can't escape from in this story, like it taking place in Japan and how they handle divorce over there. That's the mentality and ingnorance I'm calling out. People have so many things laid in front of them in this story that tells you everything you need to know to your face and they still go "well, In my opnion." If you need your characters to wrap everythign up in a big bow by saying the title of a story straight to your face at the end of you, you can't be heldped.

And no one has to listen to me or care about what I have to say, but damn, a lot of you got really heated over me calling only a few people out. And to make this perfectly clear to everyone, one last time. If you felt a littel miffed that Mahoro messed everything up, I get that. But because of what we we're told beforehand, it was never going to work, but she got everyone involved that needed to be invovled and set up a stage full of witnesess. I get it, she wasn't the one to make the slam dunk but it was a good lay up.

Would YOU trust Mahoro with THAT evidence? Especially when she has proven herself to be EXTREMELY impulsive? See: the fact she contacted Rio's husdband via social media (something both of them could have controlled) about a cheating scandal but ONLY had one blurry image for evidence. Additionally, the fact she decided to blow this up NOW of all times when she had shakey evidence.

The way that conversation went, he mentioned he's been suspicious. Probably didn't go snooping yet. Now he probably went a folder or two deep in her phone/an image app and found some shit

Thats a whole lotta words to minimize that Mahoro had to be bailed out due to repeated displays of impulsiveness.

It's okay to criticize female Mcs, even when they are going through stress. Im sure Itsuki went through stress too and look how he handled this.

God and to think...depending on how old this video is, this could either have made the last 10 or so chapters complete padding, or maybe even the whole previous 43 chapters padding lmao.

But to be fair, maybe getting to see this steel chair moment in this chapter was worth all the wait.
A story is not a train schedule - it’s not meant for characters to make the most efficient, effective choices in order to “win” a tidy resolution. MC makes mistakes and those mistakes are motivated by high emotions because this is a story about an affair. Watching MC flail and fumble trying to get her evidence let us meet new characters, gave us insight into her friendships , and even showed her slowly building a new sense of self apart from her husband as she plans her new future.

And more importantly, it’s extremely funny and entertaining to have her incompetence saved by literary a sex tape.

Hate on her? I don't see the hate? Calling her impulsive because of the times she could have gotten definitive proof but nearly jinxed it because she couldn't keep it together when her whole plan was to expose and divorce him. That is just an accurate assessment of her character. So no rei kun is no one's hero. Itsuki sama on the other hand; yeah he's the goat!! Learn from itsuki. Don't be like Rei.
