Reading the comments on here and yeah I 100% why "is into anime" was ranked so fucking high in major turnoffs for women in dating. Like yeah Rio fucked up, but the idea that she deserves what is CLEARLY a horrifically fucked mentally and emotionally abusive life and to be further brutalized is some "Moral Event Horizon" shit in terms of how I'd view people.

Some comments have been bad for this whole story. Reading through every chapter, there are so many among us who think just like Rei, his mother, or Itsuki do, and are perfectly happy being open about it. And I don't think they are like that because they watched anime.

Yes. I think it's too early to write off Itsuki as an abusive partner. This is kinda an extreme situation, it's very understandable to react in anger. We don't know if it's a pattern.

Compare Rei's "... dafuq?" response to Itsuki's request to Rio's immediate compliance. Rei's responding the way you'd expect somebody to react when told to humiliate themself on camera; Rio's responding the way you'd expect somebody to react when they already know that the consequences of non-compliance are worse than the demand itself.

So Rio definitely ain't innocent, but she got a pretty bad run of it herself. Think she might be genuinely fucked since she's the adulterer in her case, meaning he can have the law fuck her harder than Rei did.

I chalk it up to the emotional whiplash. One moment, Rio is being utterly vile. The next, you're watching a porn show. Then, she's dragged out by her hair by a victim of cheating. I'd be confused as well, feeling she deserves to suffer for her behavior but only realizing too late how fucked up it actually was.

Ultimately though, when given shit cards, Rio chose to make her closest friends suffer, getting used condoms on Mahoro's door for no reason except some fucked up sense of superiority. It's the right thing to do, but i wouldn't blame Mahoro if she felt she doesn't owe her a police call.

I actually love where this went. I mean watching Rio get dragged out of there was uncomfortable but I like it for the story. Now we know how Mahoro’s dear college friend metamorphosed into a backstabbing, cruel witch: behind closed doors her marriage was a psychological nightmare. Plus, this unexpected turn was way more interesting than Mahoro merely proving her husband’s infidelity, tying up the story neatly, then ending with an epilogue where she‘s happily divorced and dating her friend’s awesome brother.

Not exactly clear hints. Its to early to declare that plus you are ignoring that her back was against the wall with the proof. She readily agreed to stripping naked in a room full of people as punishment which suggests this isnt the first time he’s given that request and then literally dragged his wife out by her hair as she screamed to be let go and about how he was always a cold husband. That screams to a pretty clear history of abuse

others have also argued that he didn’t want to dump her after he found out she was cheating because he wanted to use that as leverage to control/abuse her further.

and as for the sex tape, I think that was her own escape. Just like how mc is working more so she can divorce her husband. She might’ve been hoping to use the profits from the tape to escape her own marriage.
