I know a lot of people will disagree with me here, but I actually like this arc. That's his own struggle that doesn't have anything to do with other people, and I find that pretty motivating
Agreed. It's also an interesting parallel to the Shizuku cosplay from the very first arc,
especially after that last text to Marin.
In the Shizuku arc, he went a little crazy in its creation and shut people (and Marin) out because of his own insecurity; he was desperate for approval and terrified of failing someone who had given him so much encouragement, despite the misunderstanding over the deadline.
In this one, his insanity and shutting people out is almost entirely for his own sake... And probably more than a little spite, considering Haniel's creator didn't want adaptations because they "wouldn't be faithful enough", which stuck with Gojou in a bad way.
