@spiderbait don't disregard someone being cornered. Even a fools can outsmart the relaxed person who think they got upperhand and rest for a bit. A bit. That just human.

There is no superhuman who could being constant in their psychology in their daily life. What a boring reasoning.

And everybody can be childish. Leslie just doesn't want someone she got dearly to being disrespected by the act to doubt her doing. I know you are right it should be obvious to still doing a proper guarding when meeting other circles. That's why it's just a childish act. What are you? A god? Blaming the plot for a little mistake that someone makes is so childish

Wait, why didn't the knights enter when Madel left? Why aren't they breaking through the window the moment they noticed the door was locked? I didn't really understand why people were bitching about the characters' behaviours last chapter, but in this one I get it.

I don't understand why so many people think Amroa's actions are so unbelievable, even if she knew the Sperado family's nature, what do people actually expect her to do? She's been struggling with her sick daughter and abusive husband and now the daughter is sold. If someone makes you an offer like that, will you cheat yourself into believing in that single strand of hope or reject it with a high probability that your child will die. Amroa is no saint, but she did caution Leslie to ask for approval and bring people who could protect her to the store. It's the kind of logic where 'Sperado can't fault me if Leslie is not allowed to come or Leslie has someone to protect her'. When the situation came down to her being alone with Leslie, she already had no choice as I'm assuming there should reasonably be someone keeping a watch on the store on the outside and having seen the others came out.

I understand Leslie not being careful, but the knights should have known better and insisted to stay. It’s not a lack of trust to always have bodyguards with you and they should’ve been firm and said that or they should have even used the duchess’ name and say they were ordered to stay no matter what.

It’s as if no one knows the Sperados tried to kill her numerous times already. Now they aren’t careful with someone with that close of a connection to the Sperados??

Shouldn’t a knight have entered before Madel went fully out and the door was closed again? It’s like the knights the author wrote in the story aren’t aware of their duties and the situation their lady is currently in.

I’m just so angry at how stupid this is being portrayed. Why do they have to be careful in front of a commoner and why are they giving in to their lady because she’s upset despite the huge safety risk especially looking at Leslie’s track record. If these are top knights then the heck are they doing!

just waiting to see what kind of bs the autor pull to make her unable to take out the chain, i am betting on a curse but looking at how dumb they make leslie in this ark i cant discard the she "forgot about the completely suspicious gift the woman who is trying to kill her gave her" option.

I just hope the Salvatore will go on a rampage and totally slaughter the Sperados. Only by leaving a sea of blood can this get back on track!

Well, yep. Koreans love their stupid melodrama. It's bound to happen here and there. All we can do is browse through it, and wait for it to end.

I'm kind of sad they went with this reason for the maid... we were all like "her child must be a hostage!" which is a MUCH better reason & far more understandable than this mess....

I read some comments and wew, I wonder if some people actually realize that as a reader they have access to a lot of information that the MC doesn't necessarily have.

Of course from your reader's perspective the trap was obvious, especially since the author didn't really try to hide it and since the past chapters were filled with foreshadowing. But just because it's obvious to the reader doesn't mean the chapter is bullshit and it should have been obvious to a 12 years old kid who was betrayed by the only person who gave her a shred affection during her whole childhood.

It's easy to say "it should have been obvious" when you're reading it as a chapter, with your head cooled down, while relaxing in your bed. But it wouldn't be surprising for an actual person living the actual thing to be fooled. Especially for a 12 years old kid. Because even though Leslie was abused and tend to have a more mature approach to things as a result, even if she's been reading a lot of books and is more cultured than the average person, she's still a child with little to no experience of the outside world. Read back the last chapters and you'll see that her childish traits are showing throughout the story.

So what, blame the knights? Sure, but even for them their reaction isn't that surprisint. They are escorting her to a small restaurant, they went inside and they've seen how harmless the place actually is. And now you have a 12 years old kid who also happens to be one of the most important woman of the empire screaming at them for being disrespectful to her benefactor. Not to mention she's a Salvadores, it'd be easy to think "no one would dare attack her now that they won the trial". Again, sure it was stupid of them to do it, but I don't understand people saying that this chapter is bullshit and that it should never have happened. Because reading it I'm thinking that it was to be expected.

@Kekitus She has suffered previous assassination attempts. She was almost taken back by the Sperados through rigged the trial. She was subjected to her former sister's ridicule when there was a brief pause of losing her escort during the trip to the palace. She has been happily training with the knights and has seen they really love her. Yet now she herself dissed the knights in favour of this former maid who even explicitly told her to be careful and come guarded. This arc broke Leslie's character by making her behave inconsistently.

But then again, I can just reevaluate Leslie as a lot more stupid than I thought she would be, and everything will be fine. The bad nutrition of her former life didn't only leave her tiny but it also affected her mental capabilities. That is, of course, perfectly realistic.

Wait, why would she even trust the Sperados? Don't they treat their servants like shit? She should have asked Leslie(in turn the Salvadors) for help. That kid is being put in an orphanage the second she dies.

So... who will save her? The guards outside? Amroa? Leslie herself? Papa bear? Mage brother? Guard brother? Paladin teacher? Angry mama?

Because even with all the build-up, we all know that she will be saved and someone will pay dearly for it. Either Amroa or the evil family, who tried to kill her again.
