(yes, they wrote it, the king/priests, freshly made up prophecy)

So they summoned one just to use her as propaganda/puppet and get her into war against dragon kingdom.
If she win, "look, the prophecy came true!" and they pillage as much as want.
If she lose, "how dare those bastards defend themselves against our RIGHTEOUS INVASION" and use her death as propaganda.





Also, if it wasn't obvious enough with that moment of hint: Ruri's mom have strong magic power, so Ruri's strong magic is just hereditary.
In fact, some of the spirits that's with Ruri right now CAME FROM EARTH WITH HER.

Because the author created a really infuriating situation, which has quite a lot of implications once you think about them. So it has to be properly resolved, somehow.
I mean, the moment you consider that "every pretty person I know was apparently magically gifted in a world barren of magic" and "my childhood "friend" leaked out charm-magic, in a world barren of magic" -- something HAS to happen. The plot hooks are there, it's just a matter of time before it actually goes somewhere. And interacting with Asahi is one way to get there.

I can't say I can stand Asahi myself, I nearly dropped the story because of that high-level bullshit that surrounds her, but the manga made it a point to have these characters have these qualities. Sadly, she's not going away any time soon. <_<
