Since someone spoils the fact that his father going to rescue him, I wasn't too surprised. That being said, I didn't expect him to be so open about it. If I was in that position, sure, i'll rescue the son, since 1) my son & 2) as I'm not 100% on the situation, rescue while the situation only at 'local' is better then when it turn into a 'state'/'country' problem. But why swagger into the guild with the whole "Yeah, it was I!" Instead of a small 'misplacement'?

At least the father knows talent when he sees it.
So, the father is dubiously smart, the son is a moron, where did the father go wrong?
Isn't that what always happens in stories like these? The parents are hyper-competents who got to where they were through hard work, and then the child is a spoiled brat who has no idea how anything works due to being raised in an environment where everything is given to them.

If anyone is curious of when the pay off with Gain is:
It is around chapter 50 to 60, but before that we will have to go through some more slice of life stuff for around 10-ish chaps, so please be patient for a while
Since the translation is following the Volume numbering, and if whoever pick it up follow suit, it should be 47-58, payout at the first few chapters of Vol.8, which is where the manga go past the 3 LN volumes too lol

You see this often in real life children from family who just became rich due to whatever the parents did tend to act spoiled worse than children from generational wealth families because they're trying to fit in compared to the others who never knew another way of life.
