Now if my knowledge of Japanese is correct, what Baal's doing is called "Aizuchi" or "backchanneling" in linguistics, which involves polite interjections and affirmations to know that the subject is listening and attentive, but rarely is actually anything constructive. Basically, the man's being polite but has nothing of value to say.
On an unrelated note, if you notice, the dynamic between Baal and the Princess is similar to that of Ameri and Iruma but instead of human culture, it's demon culture. The juxtaposition is meant to be a bit of slow-burn horror as its meant to represent a more corrupted view of the relationship iruma has. Instead of a much healthier relationship, it's a toxic and codependent one, in which Baal is using her to further his own plans and the Princess doesn't love Baal for anything about him, but because he listens to her. Hence the fucked up flowers with the yandere-ish meanings that share a superficially wholesome message but any level of analysis shows how creepy it is.
It's like watching the spider and the fly, only for the fly to turn out to be another spider. And damn if that isn't a good and dramatic twist into itself.
