So what, you were a commoner? Does that excuse you from putting more effort? Look at Tigur, he was more unfortunate than you were. A slave with injuries here and there, near dead even. And he is putting more effort than you, not even procrastinating once. Stop playing that victim card when someone's pointing out the problem with you. Pathetic loser! It isn't fortune nor misfortune, it's about effort and faith. Only those two things can change fortune & misfortune.

That would have been the perfect clapback.

"Tigur has been here for far shorter than you, yet he spares no effort in his studies, and is learning things faster than you. Aren't you ashamed of yourself to be outdone by a Butler trainee?"

Has she been using this same excuse for all these years? And for some reason her mom hasn’t caught on and keeps spoiling her? Yes the mom is an idiot and wants a doll, not to raise a kid.
Agreed. If she was a commoner, then it's all the more reason to put in extra effort in her studies to get better results, to better herself. Instead she just play the victim card every time she's told to study. When her skill's put to test, and she failed to pass the test, she'll definitely gonna say that her step sister's bullying her or some other fake accusations against her.
In society, there are some people like her, doing defamations here and there. All you have to do is to ask for a solid hard evidence.

Let’s not forget that she was the type of commoner that had money as well. So it’s not like she should have lacked some basic education as a commoner either.

Is better to avoid to make comparisons. It can create conflict when some overachiever keep being addressed as an example. The others can blame the "diligent" guy for making the people around them more demanding. I've seen some kid getting bullied and being isolated cause teachers and parents would never shut up about "why can't you do like him/her".
Also i don't see why a character detached and apathetic like Serena suddenly would care about something menial like homeworks. Sometime is like the only thing she care about are the most irrelevant.

Nah it's def needed here, how else is she gonna learn and reflect on the way she's been acting? I mean she's literally trying to throw Serena's name thru the mud all cause she points out her problems, and none of those are lies either

She was the one making comparison first, remember? With the MC. She said the problem was that she was a commoner and that the MC was a Duke's daughter, that's why she had no talent and implied she couldn't put in any effort because of that. If that's what the problem was, is, and would always be, then why could Tigur, with worse situations and status than her, could put so much effort than her?
