I know it’s supposed to be the story of the series, but I still don’t get what reward by the first prince would be enough for our MC to stick around and play the political game when she can just run away to a different country/continent and be done with it.

She has no attachment to her family and has skills to survive and make it somewhere.

I wish the story had given our MC clear and strong motivation for sticking with all this silly drama.

Wow…I get why she doesn’t wanna say anything counting that everyone of them are on her stepsisters side but that knight….what a fool, thankfully Mc has been using her new life to grow and manage to spin the story onto the knight. (also thankfully the maids were too cowardly to say anything)

I get the feeling that literally as soon as the stepsister leaves the house to “marry” the prince her world will fall apart, as the only reason she can get away with anything right now is the dumba** mother and her people.

She played the game in a pretty hard core way eh? I suppose she knew that she could bear the physical pain. And she never care much about insults anyway.
In some ways, she is kind of a contradiction: She didn't care much about her own household but she still try to keep up the noble facade in society. She enjoyed the luxuries that came with being a duke's daughter but not in excess. And she could give it all up at a moment notice, if needed be.
Now that I typed all that... She is in constant state of vigilance and never let her guards down, especially in her own house. That sounds exhausting...

I agree. I was tempted to drop this story off of that alone- the maid doing what she did is somewhat understandable, as she was ordered. But what sort of knight would screw himself over by willfully antagonizing a noble?
