Yeah, that knight attacked a Duke's daughter, where it could show, in front of multiple witnesses.
In that situation, I'd normally assume that he's a third or fourth scion of another house, and someone behind the scenes burned a bunch of political capital to make this not end with imprisonment or execution, but couldn't manage to swing even a "voluntary" resignation.
And he is murdered the next morning, anyway.
I'd like to see the next move of whoever tried to protect him, if it was someone else besides the sister or mom. If it was either of those two, though, it probably won't be that interesting.
