Wow, an actual interesting chapter. It went into Serena’s inability to understand why someone would sacrifice yourself for love another, and to contrast it had Tiger do exactly that in a very brutal way for her.
Thanks for the translation.

Yeah, that knight attacked a Duke's daughter, where it could show, in front of multiple witnesses.

In that situation, I'd normally assume that he's a third or fourth scion of another house, and someone behind the scenes burned a bunch of political capital to make this not end with imprisonment or execution, but couldn't manage to swing even a "voluntary" resignation.

And he is murdered the next morning, anyway.

I'd like to see the next move of whoever tried to protect him, if it was someone else besides the sister or mom. If it was either of those two, though, it probably won't be that interesting.

assaults a Duke's daughter
"We will make sure to report this to the higher ups and punish this man to the fullest extent of the law."
gets dismissed
If that was the fullest extent of the law for assaulting the daughter of a high ranking noble I think Tigur may have had a point here.
No wonder this country seems to need so many assassins.
And on the other hand that maid got the leash for the breakfast, and that was after her being threatened with death

The captain only say he is going to be punished strictly.

In the novel, Serena also told him as long as punishment is given, she won’t mention it anymore. She also reminds the captain, their conduct as knight will reflect to the reputation of the master they serve.

For the discharge, the captain say that knight can take it or being detained.
Getting fired should hurt enough. Those knights from nobility are usually younger sons who almost don’t get any inheritance, so they use the job as knight to get achievement or win favour from people in power. Kicked out of the job, he’ll have it in his resume forever. Unless he’s a protagonist, he’d likely be too incompetent to start other job and turn his fate around.

There’s another knight who asked the captain if it’s okay, because the prince might protest.
The captain says knight’s assignment is his right as commander. The other person with authority to interfere with the decision is the King himself.

To add... in this series, those in power seems to take the responsibility seriously. They might take a jab to each other, but things won't go well for those who abused their power.
