The beauty and dread of love.

Back then during the first time they meet, I screamed, why Aesir, she loved you... It's obvious! But then I realised the grave consequences of being a high-elf, and the differences of feelings between the two races. Indeed human lifespan is nothing but a fleeting moment in the eyes of a true immortal, and that makes Aesir doesn't want to have any romantic feelings towards anyone...

The complexity of love. The brave would let go and keeping the memories, while the otherwise would do anything to be with their loved ones, even the taboo acts, like a story I forgot the name.

A single step starts the journey to a thousand, and after that ten thousand, and after that - forevermore.

You'll be missed, Kaeha. Whether with tears or without, it remains the same. Rest well.

FUCK.

I really can't claim that ninjas are cutting onions, because the mangaka deserves the tribute, the offering, of my emotions. They really worked hard on this, and they did it right.
They have my thanks for actually touching my heart.
Really, though... this food is so salty now, dammit.... what a terrible day for rain...

This really hits different over the age of 45, though; I've lost enough close friends now to be able to feel the depth of this story.
I wonder if I could have understood this in my 20s? (Me, not other people; individual experiences may vary)
I sure get it, now.

Something I noticed on a re-read that I skipped over is Kaeha refusing the fruit on page 30 seemingly after Aesir described it's rejuvenating properties. It was clear at this point she didn't want her love for Aesir to weigh him down too long. I've seen comments of Aesir finding a way to keep her alive longer, but I think the problem is that no method would keep her healthy and youthful NEARLY as long as Aesir who lives longer than normal elves and becomes a spirit after death. And Kaeha was so self aware how tragic her love was which made it even more heartbreaking. She didn't want temporary solutions that would just mean she'd burden Aesir's life. In an ideal world they'd get to walk as equals, but we're not reading that story.

Whats also interesting is she had a tiny amount right before she died, perhaps to gain the strength to show her form one last time, but I wonder if she just wanted to taste Aesir's world (a fruit of the high elves) one time before death.

So he isn't going to Noona that was akin to his mother or older sister...

Also really really hoped mc would travel with Kaeha atleast for a bit... I truly hope she will return one day to him...

RIP Town Guard Guy never would’ve expected a call back to that….

Kaeha’s curse of Love was a crazy ride man:

• Fell for a high Elf
• Made a Vow to reform her school for him
• Forcing herself to get Directly Piston Pumped inseminated by the Elf’s Close Knight friend who was already married despite Not having any experience with men all so she could Breed heirs for MC’s eventual return
• Then In her twilight years she was finally able spend time & bloom her love
• Finally 13years later she dies wielding her Blade & in the Arms of Her Most Beloved

I knew this would happen
I KNEW SHE WASNT LONG BUT HOT DAMN!
THIS MADE ME CRY SOME MORE T_T

Kaeha was such a nice character with a unique development. She didn’t have the time at first to spend it with MC because she needed to hone her blade. She finally returns being happy about her blade and spending time with the one she loves only to introduce him to the quest that will ultimately split them. FUUUCK

the last scenes of her life were beautiful. This broke me.

The realization of her requesting to be knocked up by MC’s friend For the MC was wild & showed her determination & love for MC

As someone that lost a dozen people in the past 4 years, this feels very forced.
You all are acting like losing people before you have lived half of your life is some deep thing, when in actuality it's the most normal thing ever.

You should actually go back and read the mothers explanation yourself. And then go back and read what he says to Kaeha before leaving. She literally says that MC left a curse on her with what he said to her before leaving. She felt the need to create an heir to her sword style because of what the MC directed her to do before he left. She was so in love with him (his fault for leading her on) that she dedicated everything she had, and sacrificed her happiness, in the hopes of seeing him again because in her mind, if she was able to fulfill what he directed her to do, it would make him come back. I'm sure him constantly up and leaving all the time has nothing to do with her erratic behaviour either. The mother even goes on to say that it's entirely possible that the wife and husband were cursed in their own way because they didn't know what Kaeha would do if they didn't give her a child. Hilarious that you think they were all for it. I don't care what the in-lore excuse for all this is. I think the author did Kaeha as a character a big disservice. That's my point. You seem to think that I don't want it to be edgy. No, this was just mid to me and felt flat. You can give lore-based reasoning all you want, but it still comes off as exaggerated with the whole seeking an heir out of wedlock weirdo shit just because MC said for her to pass her skills to an heir so that heir could teach him when he comes back. Like, are you serious? Her entire character is going to be this tunnel vision husk of a person who dedicates her entire life to a single request from the MC? Yeah, what a masterpiece. So unique. Definitely haven't seen that tired old trope in manga/anime before.

Don't try to tell me that I want this to be another "slow life isekai", lmao. And get out of here with the harem nonsense. You can disagree with me all you want, but don't try to reframe my comment with bullshit about harems and generic slow life shit just because I don't think this specific side arc in an otherwise good manga is some bastion of literature like you do. Didn't like it, felt overly dramatic and exgaggerated, and it was. Long story long, it wasn't for me, and I'm more interested in where the MC goes after this, because everything else has been great so far.
You are absolutely correct, this all feel so forced.
But I guess that the bar is so low for isekais/fantasy that most readers won't question anything as long as it seems deep.

Imagine if she had been honest with MC and asked him for an heir that could keep her sword... Nah, would have made too much sense, let's ask that married guy for some of his genes instead and make it all weird and awkward.

This arc burnt all my interest about this manga, I hope you all keep enjoying it but I'm out.

I don't like comparing this to Frieren, which I find to have better writing, much better pacing, and is overall more skillful with mood imo. (I also really appreciate the quality artwork.) But for expressing opportunities slipping away with the passage of time for this MC (with the small and large tragedies some of the supporting characters live as a result of MC's decisions), this title absolutely does it for me. The tone is kept light in its own way (not taking itself too seriously, which Frieren absolutely does imo), but it still sings a sad song to the heart. Well done, author, well done.
