FUCKIN'
WHAT
I'm here for this Kanon event. Here's to hoping neither of them pull back from this and start backpedaling, and one (or preferably both) can keep them engaged until what needs to be said is said.
This felt correct, though. Saki would have very likely done as Kanon feared and 'swallowed her words' in fear of losing her composure, especially in the face of her anxiety over her own sexuality.
Kanon's impulsiveness coming to the forefront, and
very clearly showing that she "aligns" with Saki in the ways that matter for a prospective relationship between them, feels like a good answer to
- Saki's fear of her attraction being not-reciprocated, or (worse) being actively off-putting to Kanon; and
- Kanon's own anxieties over knowing what right words to say--just don't speak at all and let action take precedence, which is also an upgrade to her character who before was content to passively watch the world go by in silence, without desiring to engage or seek out new happiness in the wake of losing her hearing.
- And as a bonus, it gets around the tripping up of having a conversation that both are nervous about, being a staple of romance manga stories wherein sometimes you need outside help to kickstart things. It coming from one of the two in-question, and it being a kiss, is all the better.
But I'm overjoyed to see such an active opting in on Kanon's part to reach for something she wants. And, props to Saki for setting this up, and not letting the opportunity pass her by and Kanon getting dragged off to Club. She is making her own strides forward to address her worries and fears and wants, and this meeting in the middle (of sorts) for them feels like it has real narrative velocity potential.
I'm hopeful this will only see things progress for them both, and hopefully more lovey dovey moments between them in short order.
Thanks for the fantastic TL work as always.
